If you can get a WRX you can get a C5Z...

i'll take a look around, would a base C5 be good? can't find any Z06s in my budget

I paid $3500 for my wrx haha. I wouldn't want to learn on a track in a c5z anyways. Its way too much power, and not exactly confidence inspiring at the limit.

Yes and no, an awd car will perform much differently that a rwd car. Learning in a rwd car will most likely be much more beneficial.

WRXs are not really known for their reliability though either.

/thread

k ill be sure to get a RWD car then

wats your budget, we can help you way better with a price range, and i dont think youl find anything worth tracking from rental service unless its dedicated track car rental witch wont come cheap

yeah i was thinking from a standard rental service. my budget's up to 10k

the answer is always miata

miata hands down. Dont waste your money on AWD

i may get a miata, that seems like a really popular choice :o

At 6'4" I can't even get my legs under the wheel of a miata without floor mounting a bucket seat so not really

Base C5 is also a decent car, ls powerplants are great. But on a 10k budget its probably a good idea to stay away from C5's. C4 would be in your budget, but a lot of people have a stick up their ass about the Lt1. Miata is a cool choice, I'm actually looking for one myself. If you get around 10 grand after the purchase you can do a cool ls swap in it and have a monster miata.

lol he doesn't need that power for a track car. With $10k he can get a clean miata, quality rims and tires, coilovers, sway/strut bars, a roll bar, new seats and wheel. That's all you want.

Very much this.
Most people here have never been to the track and have little understanding of what constitutes a good track car.
But that's obvious by the replies that have been posted.

You can basically buy a stock class miata for 10k and it's race/prep ready.
