One of the problems they had ALL of the time with their Rabbit was the headlights. It blew headlight after headlight after headlight (has a cluster light for it). Then it had problems with the electrical lock/unlock mechanisms in the doors, then the ESP started to act up, so they sold it.

never had any of those issues.

i do know 05.5-07 rabbit/jettas had tons of problems with EVERYTHING. 08 was the best year/sweet spot, fixed tons of problems and hardly any issues

I dont remember what year theirs was. Was definitely in the mid/late 2000's though. I know for sure it was a 2.5L.

I do this little thing every now and again. I like to call it ' preventative maintenance '

Like tint your tails lights to prevent other drivers from seeing your brake lights?

Ever V dub I've been bullied into working on had all kinds of rando electrical problems. I guess the Mexicans aren't happy with their compensation or something. BMW's weren't much better but I've only worked on a few of them.

wont say things dont happen but mines been golden. plus im going to get rid of it in 3+ months for something much newer, more room, faster/turbo'd..just not sure what yet.

but the focus ST is in a sweet price range for it, right amount of room and performance i want, 6 speed and interior is amazing. i would get a fully loaded one. which is only like 30k but theres a lot of rebates out for focus' atm so works in my favor

I could never spend anything near 30k on a Focus. $35k will get you a C6 Z06 for christs sake. And your VW with 6xxxx miles isn't even out of warranty yet is it? The 100k mile mark is where shit starts to really fall apart. One Jetta I worked on was fucked at 75k. Windows would randomly go up and down, interior lights would go on and off, turn signals worked intermittently, steering column wouldn't unlock when the key was put in the ignition sometimes, radio was intermittent... Mechanically it never had a problem but the electrical was hysterical.
