Yea i heard a lot of problems with royal purple, but that was a couple of years ago. Still wouldn't run it

It breaks down really, really fast. Like super fast. Little resistance to shearing and fuel dilution is almost immediate in gas vehicles. For the money you are better off with Redline, Amsoil, or slide back to Pennzoil Platinum or Castrol Syntec. You could use a niche oil like Brad Penn.

Royal purple and Fram oil filter.

Do it.

Or if you actually give a shit about your vehicle.

Mobil 1 (if going synthetic) and KNN filter.

Spend the 10 extra bucks. I mean it is your engine life we're talking about here.

I've been using Mobil 1 for a while. Just switched to the High mileage Mobil 1 and it stopped my timing chain cover oil leak :D I use a Wix filter though.

I know absolutely nothing about engines, but I saw this commercial saying Royal purple would make my car really fast. Its a 79 with 500k miles on it and has always had dino oil in it, but dropping this fully synthetic crap in here won't do anything but make it go real fast...the commercial said so.

you obviously missed the whole point of that commercial.

It was a satire of the boy's situation. I guess sardonic comments are overstepping the capabilities of this forum's understanding. My apologies for not spelling it out.

For who knows what reason I ran royal purple in my old 09 focus before it got totaled. Obviously there weren't any issues by 50,000miles when it got wrecked but it always seemed like brand new when I changed it at least.
