the reason for the law is because people holding cell phones were getting shot through tinted window because the cops thought they were guns and the other way around where cops couldn't see the gun being pointed at them and got shot. I only know how it works in IL and a cop can use his judgement. if he thinks its too dark to properly identify and object through the window he can issue a ticket even if there's proof its within the legal tinting limit. does not mean that it will hold up in court, but many people will get a lower tint and use that receipt and then get a darker one and say it's within the limit. that's why they allow the ticket to be issued based solely on whether or not the officer thinks it's too dark
Hmm makes sense I suppose. At the same time, from what I have seen, legal tint isn't hard to see through during the day, and you are supposed to turn your interior lights on if it is dark and you are pulled over.With mine at-least, you can make out stuff.
I went to the dmv and the woman called TDOT (Tn dept of trans.) a state trooper, and a few other people to make SURE she was right when she told me that the letter from the Dr alone would suffice, and if I DID get a ticket for it, that it would almost definitely get thrown out because it is shown that I DO need it. I was surprised as to how easy it was for me to get the note though in all honesty.I had called ahead , but still.
My Dr was like "Well, I know you are sensitive to light, , you've been coming here for years, I know your story and know it is a legitimate need. I've already typed up most of the letter before you got here, I just need you to read it and tell me if that is what it needs to say." I was in and out with it in less than 10 minutes. I can get the front as dark as 60, and the sides as low as 30 according to him (state law is none on the front and 35 on the sides, unless you have a medical reason

)
But anyway, I may post pics of it after the windshield is finished. The tint shop has to order another roll of it. He was 2 inches short of enough to do it for me today lol!
