Cared about it in my 91 Trooper... Thing would slam your forehead into the steering wheel over a 500 rpm difference. Never figured that one out.

Its the gearing. I can rev match and my diesel will feel like an automatic (or smoother) or I can drop the clutch and anything not bolted down is in the floorboard.

I should of stated that none of the manual tranny cars I've owed have ever really mattered about rev matching, as long as your close it won't be throwin shit all the over the place.

I remember when I first got my 350z tho, this dude commented on my pic asking if I "heel-tow and rev-match" and go figure he was a civic fag

Why is a double clutch necessary? Why can't I just clutch in one and hit the trottle to rev match with the clutch still depressed then just release it when I get to the appropriate rpm?

heel and toe and rev matching are way different.
Rev matching will extend the life of your clutch vs just dropping the clutch and letting it absorb the difference in speed.
Heel-toe is so you can brake and down shift at the same time in racing afaik.

When I am stopping for a light or stop sign I just press the clutch in while braking until I'm either stopped or the light has turned green, then shift into whatever gear is necessary.
I've heard all this talk about rev-matching, but I have no tachometer. Is my method hurting the engine/clutch at all?
I drive a '64 truck with 3 in the tree.

I understand that. I am asking what purpose double clutching serves if I can do it in a single clutch.
