everyone always talks about track racing on these forums, and how their car is better at track racing than my car or someone elses car
but lemme ask these pple a question
have they ever been to a track, and when your actually driving your car on a daily basis how much fun can u actually have with a car that can just handle good?
i think on a daily basis your are going to use strait line speed A LOT more than just being good on a turn, trying to turn fast on a normal road is dangerous, not saying the going fast in a strait line isnt, theres just alot more room for error when trying to turn fast on public roads
and as for track racing funner than strait line racing, thats a matter of personal opinion, both arent easy, especially if your shifting manually on a 1/4 car, personally from what ive seen, it takes a decent amount more to build a car that is fast in a strait line, than it does to build a car that is fast around a track
thats just my 2 cents
i personally have never driven on a real track. but i dont need a track i practically have a rally course outside my front door. i have plenty of fun with a car that just handles well, but thats my thing. sure i like speed and acceleration too but i much prefer to be in a corner. like u said there isnt alot of room for error and u have to be very careful of other ppl.
there are things u can do to make it much safer though. for one i dont drive to fast during the day when more ppl are out, and i always stay in my lane in blind corners. during the day there are big vehicles like tractors or big trucks with massive boats and so on. at night its a diff game, there are much fewer ppl out and u can see headlights reflecting off any number of things from around a blind corner. once u have seen an oncoming car in every blind corner u know what to look for next time u come to that corner and if there is no light u can take up the whole corner.
as for drag cars costing more than a track car it is all relevant to the car and class u are racing and cant be definitive either way.
there is a track in Ft worth about 2 hours from me, im gonna go there one of these days ant take a class it cost like $300 with car rental. i could use my car but its a DD i dont want to completely thrash my tires and brakes.
