everyone always talks about track racing on these forums, and how their car is better at track racing than my car or someone elses car

but lemme ask these pple a question

have they ever been to a track, and when your actually driving your car on a daily basis how much fun can u actually have with a car that can just handle good?
i think on a daily basis your are going to use strait line speed A LOT more than just being good on a turn, trying to turn fast on a normal road is dangerous, not saying the going fast in a strait line isnt, theres just alot more room for error when trying to turn fast on public roads

and as for track racing funner than strait line racing, thats a matter of personal opinion, both arent easy, especially if your shifting manually on a 1/4 car, personally from what ive seen, it takes a decent amount more to build a car that is fast in a strait line, than it does to build a car that is fast around a track

thats just my 2 cents

i personally have never driven on a real track. but i dont need a track i practically have a rally course outside my front door. i have plenty of fun with a car that just handles well, but thats my thing. sure i like speed and acceleration too but i much prefer to be in a corner. like u said there isnt alot of room for error and u have to be very careful of other ppl.

there are things u can do to make it much safer though. for one i dont drive to fast during the day when more ppl are out, and i always stay in my lane in blind corners. during the day there are big vehicles like tractors or big trucks with massive boats and so on. at night its a diff game, there are much fewer ppl out and u can see headlights reflecting off any number of things from around a blind corner. once u have seen an oncoming car in every blind corner u know what to look for next time u come to that corner and if there is no light u can take up the whole corner.

as for drag cars costing more than a track car it is all relevant to the car and class u are racing and cant be definitive either way.

there is a track in Ft worth about 2 hours from me, im gonna go there one of these days ant take a class it cost like $300 with car rental. i could use my car but its a DD i dont want to completely thrash my tires and brakes.

FMX I dont get you.

My 2L n/a 4 cylinder is 3 seconds slower than your ponitac, stock. You cant tell me thats bad... and my car costs less new. probably has more features aswell. Gets more mpg...

So what, your car is faster top end (apart from a strip where u legally gonna top end your car?) your car is faster in a straight line and has faster acceleration.

My car FN2 K20a2 CTR is my first car, and in europe thats a fucking nice car to have as an 18 year old brand new.

You dont like hondas, thats your fucking choice. Dont hate my car because it actually IS better than yours in alot of aspects!

3 seconds in a 1/4 mile is a fucking HUGE difference

Anyone that races civics in straight lines are dumb fucks. I still bet my CTR will beat ur car stock around a bendy track.

Yea sure 3 seconds in a straight line is a long time (or those that care) but it will easily make that back on corners. Also I think I did mention my car only has a 2L n/a 4 cylinder? Compared to what the pontiac has stock vs stock... 3 seconds is not that huge of a difference.

You prove my point exactly.. Who gives a fuck about 1/4 times? does it make ur dick bigger? Unless u are actually gonna do something like <7 secs where the adrenaline rush? Track racing is far more fun and exciting than straight line racing FACT.

What you mean my CTR isnt quite stock? Its factory tuned... thats stock to me. Theres no aftermarket parts whatsoever. Unless my rear brake light cover counts as a performance "mod".
With a few grand put into a civic type R it will still cost lest than its rivals (foces ST, opel/vauxhaull VXR, golf GTI/R32) and be faster aswell N/A.

depends on the track. his car handles better, if their are lots of turns he could beat a stock trans am. just cuz a car has more power or faster acceleration doesnt always make them an automatic winner on a track there are many many more variables involved that there are in drag racing.

I love how people brag about stock cars on a track

And 3 seconds??? if you knew anything about racing, you wouldn't have said that. strait line or not.

but then again, i guese when you race rice rockets, 3 seconds is like 3 feet so sure.

Did you only read that?

Did you read what I wrote before that? Im comparing the enginge to engine not fucking time/distance u moron. Comprehend what im saying before you open your mouth the next time.

For what he has in his car compared to what I have 3 secs is NOT that bad. COMPARING my enginge is alot smaller and also producing stock less WHP than his ponitac with mods.

Get where im comming from moron? Obviously in an actually race with car of similiar performace, enginge, mods etc 3 secs is a huge difference.

with minor suspension upgrades his trans am will walk your civic on a road course track.

i thought the comparison was to fmx's car, either way they are pretty close to the same stock. id say the GTO handles a bit better than a trans am. id still say his civic could beat a GTO around some tracks or twisty pass's or whatever.

cars that are lighter and handle better have the advantage over cars that have more power alot of times on really twisty tracks/roads.
