bwhahaha. Practically my car. Dope!

Will be a really fun lemons.

I thought about yours when I saw it.

Is there anything these are notorious for? They are pretty damn tank like from what I know...

Fresh build in 2013 from rust free and straight 1987 325i chassis.
- 166k on the M20. Engine completely resealed. Head received freshing and valve job. Bottom end and cylinder honing look great. Strong compression. No overheating, runs strong.
- New cooling - radiator, hoses, h2o pump, belts (timing, other), electric fan
- 5-sp with two differentials -- 3:72 LSD and small case 4:10 LSD. The 4:10 needs replacement friction disks.
- New Guibo, d/s bearing, peddle box, shifter parts/linkages (we starting racing as an automatic. Converted to a 4-speed in 2014)
- New JB Racing Aluminum flywheel, 4-puck ceramic clutch disk, HD pressure plate, clutch master and secondary cylinders during 5-sp install
- New brakes (Girling calipers, ATF rotors, brake lines, brake master cylinder, etc). PFC 08 / 06 brake pads and out stop anyone.
- New IE Racing Stage 3 springs and Bilsteins
- New front Lemforeder control arms and FAG wheel hubs/bearings
- New suspension bushings – most are rigid type including engine and transmission.
- Roll cage by RollCage Components. NASCAR bars on both doors.
- New on board fire suppression – 6 or 8 nozzles for seat box and engine
Fuel tank pump mod. All new fuel lines.
- ABS and power steering delete
- Detachable Sparco steering wheel.
- Sparco seat with slider
- Two sets of rims. One rim is bent from crash. Although it looks straight, recommend changing the right control arm too.
- 100% fluid changes between each race (engine, transmission, diff, brakes, cooling)
- Three full races on car. Three partial races (DNFs due to failed automatic transmission, rain, and wreck).
- Passes tech inspection at Lemons and ChumpCar.
- Best “race condition” lap times with typical extremely crowed courses:
Summit Point Shenandoah June ’14: 1:50.924
Watkins Glen full course May ’14: 2:27.3
VIR South Course March ’14: 1:28.7
NJMP Thunderbolt August ’13: 1:52.2
- Tons of spares (rear and front suspension, brakes, pads, etc.)

Sounds like a solid choice.

They are stout little motors. timing belts, and all associated parts, need replacement at every 60k. Other than that, the m20 can be a million mile motor, with continual upkeep. Transmissions can go in excess of 300k before a rebuild.

That car is going to be fun as hell, and will be very throwable. You'll basically be fully matted, and flat, in the corners. LSD is key. Go for the 4.10.

that sounds like such a nice little package.

So if you buy a car for 3500$ like that, you have to prove that the safety modications were 3 grand? Or no?

You have to convince the tech inspectors that the car is worth $500 + safety equipment. It's a gutted, wrecked 25 year old 3 series so it shouldn't be hard.

just drive over to tampa and find a grand national for like $300 or a monte carlo or something lol

chances are if you buy that BMW since its known, unless you remove every sales ad they will know you spent $3500 and disqualify you, they are pretty serious about the cost limit

or grow a mullet and do what these guys did

It is advertised as $3500 OBO.

The car has almost $2000 worth of safety features which don't count towards the $500 limit.

It also comes with a truck load of spare parts and 8 tires at that price.
