ok

ISO a CVT expert out there.

You won't find one here. You won't find a trans shop to work on it if it breaks either. Most places won't touch it.

Pretty much this. Sure they drive smoother but they are ironed out yet.

yeah, that's the one thing preventing me from going all in on it. I'm sure i could find a dealership to repair or replace it possibly but that would probably be mad expensive lol, thousands of dollars i'd imagine? idk

maybe it's not worth the extra 3-4 or so MPG idk

anywhere from 1200-2000 for the trans itself (not sure how much a CVT is)

+ 10-12 hours labor time at 100-110/hour.

Unless they give you a bumper to bumper warranty for 100k miles auto it is.

the thing is the predicted reliability for the transmissions on like almost all subarus across the board (minus the stupid BRZ or in some cases the WRX STI) are supposed to be above average to well above average on almost all models from 2012+, most of those have CVTs

Predicted reliability

AKA crock of shit. It's not reliable until it's been proven reliable.

Most 6 speed autos are $3000-$4000 for a complete rebuild + labor for r&r. I can't see a CVT being cheaper than that.

At the end of the day it's your call. Anyone that's a car guy will say stay away from them.

well it's been up to 4-5 years with the technology and I haven't seen any major complaints lol

yes youre right im sure it would be very expensive to repair though.

You should be able to scam them out of a warranty. Once you have that locked in you should be fine.

I seen a CVT on a 2003.
They've been around a while.

They're still just shit.

If we can make them handle torque, they're superior transmissions.
But we clearly don't have that capability because CVTs are not used in any racing league as far as I know.
