However, just to make it more confusing for you. Technically pony cars can be muscle cars and muscle cars can be pony cars.

Most of the big bidy big block cars were coined muscle cars. Chevelle, charger, gto, cuda etc.


The mustang gt, challenger rt, and camaro ss would all be good examples of todays pony cars. One could claim that the gt500, hellcat, and vette could be coined as muscle cars but meh... they are all pony cars in my opinon.
