car vs bus
the bus won

...what a surprise

the only new cars I would not feel safe in are cars like smart..I don't see how it can protect you from any impact

Funny you would bring that up, the smart car has a stronger frame than just about every compact car on the market.

You don't think I grasp the concept of physics. That is funny. Please explain your "size is a term for space and time" comment, it makes zero sense.

fyi- Physics is science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time.

Yes, size matters. Especially today in the world of "crumple cars" unibody which does not sit on a frame. It's physics when a compact car explodes when it makes contact with something solid. Everything is focused on less weight, more mpg. Ideally size would not matter if the material being used would completely stay together.

What? Where are you going with the Tesla statement?

can a focus even go at 120mph? lol

ya I know but even if the frame is fairly intact, you'll take most of the impact

In 1973 there were 54k vehicle accident deaths and the U.S. Population was 211 Million.

2014 there was 32k vehicle accident deaths and the U.S. Population was 316 Million.

This thread doesn't make any sense at all.

The drinking age back then was only 18, you did not have to drive with a seat belt, either. Lots of inconclusives make up those numbers you posted.

yea, that is true...unfortunately the crumple dimensions are pretty small and who the fuck wants to drive a car that looks like some odd shaped egg.

eh my fiat 500 was great until someone ran a red light and smashed the shit out of me, car was totaled I walked away with only a sore knee where my leg hit the center console. the guy smashed right into my passenger door/fender doing about 70 mph. I walked away just fine other than being pissed that the guy did that. He hit me so hard going so fast his car went about another 150-200 feet before his car stopped and it was missing a front wheel. He pushed me into traffic coming the other way and I hit a car going the other way. Was a clusterfuck of a wreck I was glad to be uninjured. And I would definitely buy another fiat 500 based on the gas mileage I was getting and how well it handled in that accident.

"Miami County Chief Deputy Dave Duchak said this morning that Dickey’s car was traveling 101 miles per hour and accelerating when it hit the bus, according to the onboard computer in the car.
Dickey was not wearing a seat belt. There were no braking or skid marks, Duchak said."

if you drink and drive, don't go over 100 mph.
