Thats a pretty common thing to do for an overflow or catch can, not really even that bad.

after i bought my first baja bug i basically immedialtely took it out to barstow which is a pretty rough place, the 3 inch body lift bolts sheared on the front of the bug, so my cousin and i could lift the body off the pan a good 5-6 inches...

we used 3 motorcycle tie downs across the body and the hood, i climbed in and out of the window all week until we got home and welded that shit together.

not all that crazy but it was at the time.
