i was thinking the same thing...

although to build a civic hatch they have every part imaginable at their fingertips so they wouldnt really have to worry about anything needing to be a custom/1-0ff fabrication = less hurt on the budget?

just busting youre balls, if i wear gloves it will be to keep my hands clean, i could care less about my fingers touching the internal parts that are going to the garbage and the head that is full of oil that will be taking a degreaser bath.

why such a dick? dont worry about it. This build will probably be under 10k and will be faster then my vette if it holds. then again i still drive a vette and not a civic hatch ;)
cost for honda parts are so low it makes me jelly, add to the fact most of these are second hand even the brand new valves/springs/retainers etc.

Gotta love the beat ass motors you try and blow up, then they keep on trucking. My first car was a 2.slow 94 automatic jetta, had like 300k on it before I was about to swap the motor to sell. So I decided to take it on a backs road then pulled in down into 1st gear and floored it... after about 3 miles of tacking it out at 27mph I clicked it in drive and drove home, ran no different rofl.

the little 4-bangers can do that shit all day long and be fine... but as soon as you run a stock v8 in high rpm for 10 minutes the shit blows apart.

my toyota pickup ran in 1st and 2nd at well over 6k rpm for an entire weekend in the sand dunes, packed up all my camping gear and drove it home like it was on a sunday cruise to church lol

meanwhile my cousins gmc sierra overheated twice, and started to give up the ghost about 30 miles from home...

An AEM management system has been ordered for this little red thing. Also my budys friend has volunteered to spot weld the car after hearing about the project so we started to grind of the paint and all the crap that is layed over the metal.
Mainly doing the engine bay and the rear shock towers.
