Well there's some other cars to test drive in that "segment" if that's what you want. You mentioned the RS in your thread title but no mention of driving that in your OP. That's an option. If you like the Evo and STI you'd probably at least semi enjoy that. Civic Si is a dirt cheap version of those if you don't want to dump that chunk of change. The GTI has an Audi quality interior with a performance similar to the WRX. The Golf R (VW's STI equivalent) is around the same price as an STI with similar performance (a few key differences, 4MOTION is a lot different than Subaru's AWD, the STI will be a little quicker, but the Golf has a much better tranny). Probably can't test drive a Golf R though as AFAIK they're order only and may never be one sold to a dealer for stock.
Could also test drive a I4 BMW 2-Series. You'd probably enjoy that but its a coupe versus a four-door so not sure if you'd be willing to go for that.
There's lots of fun cars for around $40,000. But it sounds like you like sport compacts. I think the list of cars I gave is a decent addition that you may want to look into.
Wow awesome advice man, thanks. I cant drive the RS yet because it doesnt hit showrooms until spring 2016, plus there is a limited amount! I bet those cars are going to be very $$ and be snatched up quick. Plus I have learned not to buy brand new things in my past haha wait till patch/batch #2 come out

My buddy has an evo x right now
Was a ton of fun to drive, the most fun car I've ever driven
but he has spent so much on replacing shit. It's constantly broken. It's actually in the shop right now.... and he's under 70k still.
Never driven or even been in any kind of Subaru or 5.0 stang
Will probably go test out a wrx now that I'm looking for something awd. Don't have the $ to go sti
Good to know.. Although its probably cheaper to fix a Evo.. But I dont plan on slamming this baby to hard, I need it to last a long time and be my daily driver!
