Oh, so he buys a brz and dailys it for a year or so before he can break 15 second quarter miles. Or he could buy something that will run 12s out of the box and not have to wait to have those same times when he drops 15k into his brz... sound logic

You're a complete idiot.. It's clearly evident you only care about quarter mile times, but there is so much more to driving than that...

He even stated he was looking into brzs.

Cars can be modified within the first year without any issues.

Obviously you would, at the bare minimum, want to wait until after the factory 1000 mile break in.

The most important thing is logging hours behind the wheel. What I listed were the most common upgrades to the car, to fill in the details of what someone actually wants to achieve with modifications, they have to drive the car to feel what needs to be improved.

If he wants a fast car from factory, he can get a mustang gt, an sti, or a 370z. I always base suggestions of buying new cars because suggesting used cars is an endless list.

I said routine maintenance........

You would have to be a complete idiot to say that a Porsche would have cheaper maintenance than a brz..

My ~10,000 for Forced induction include kits that are much more complete. These engines easily can yield 400 hp without building the engine. If you want to go 450+, that's when you have to look into a stronger build.

Also, I would recommend a supercharger over turbo. It might not yield the highest top end gains, but it's cheaper, more reliable, more practical, and helps more where the car lacks.

That may be true but you create maintenance with a build like that. It's the nature of the beast. You speak of things you don't fully understand. I'm not bashing the idea, just refrain from using cheaper maintenance as a foundation for your suggestion of that specific example.

Yes, your right. I wasn't trying to dismiss the expenses and potential expenses of modification repairs and maintenance.

I was just speaking in general terms with general maintenance.

I try to speak very generally when it comes to cars because I know everyone has different experiences and some people do some of their own labor where others don't.

Not the case at all, but I like how you keep calling me an idiot and assuming everything as well :) truth is the brz is probably the most overrated car of our time, but I know it's hard for a fanboy like yourself to understand that.

Anyway you brought up the power upgrades and then claimed how "reliable" it would be, then got called out for it. So stop acting like I am only stuck on that shit, I was talking from a reliability standpoint. Anyone can dump a bunch of money in any car and get performance, just a lot of cars do it better for cheaper and the brz is not one of them... 10k for and all that shop work for that kinda outcome? What a joke, you could for instance take a mk7 golf gti and go with a basic revo stage 1 (yes stage 1, basic Bolt ons and software) and get a car that will run with a 400 hp brz.. and that's like 1500$? Lawl..

Now I do get the brz is kinda fun to drive, but personally I thought it was just decent when I drove a few of the ones my friends own. But better than average handling doesn't compensate for watching a civic si's taillights leave you under full throttle

1. It's not overrated if it has done everything it was meant to do. The brz was NEVER marketed as being a fast car.

2. I got called out because I wasn't specific enough. Generally (that key word right there)., European cars have higher maintenance costs than Asian cars.

3. Op said he was looking at brzs, which can was the cheapest option of what he also has listed. I was giving him an example of how he could buy a brz and fill up his full budget.

4. Sure, you can take any car and make it fast. Again, all you care about is how fast a car goes. He drives a Porsche, in sure he enjoys balance, aesthetics of exterior and interior, and that "racecar " feel. Also, the gti isn't rwd, but not a bad Option at all.

5. let me know when you realize there's more to driving than just a "fast" car.

If you have a daily/winter car, I'd say get a toy. Convertible vette maybe? They are dime a dozen.

I like cars but I can't do it for a daily driver. I tried it and hated it.

Some of the pop ups out there are actually really nice! If I didn't always have people tagging along with me i'd probably buy one instead of the camper I have. I never get to go camping/fishing alone anymore it seems so the bigger camper suits what I need.

I'll never buy another bumper pull again though. That 325rlsa I have is a bitch to pull....

Same man I drove my civic for a little while. The blind spots in parking lots were ridiculous, nervous about hitting a deer, or getting hit and people just don't move the fuck over when your behind them in the fastlane in a 97 civic. The big tank they move right away lol.
