The thing is, they haven't changed too much.
Lost ark Is bringing more mmorpg elements into the game in addition to showing superior graphics and animations.
I think there should be MORE hack and slash games on the market and better action adventure games with very involved combat.
There are too many first person shooters and they are losing my interest. I want more games with ridiculously fun combat, like shadows of mordor.
I guess to each their own.
I still play the classics D2/Counterstrike/EQ
You know what i want that a game hasn't provided since 1999...
Contested, open world content.
3 day/5 day/7 day spawns that take 50 people to kill.
Zoning into an area with 150 people (3 full raids) all trying to kill a contested spawn from the others.
Real competition, not this instanced silver platter raid trash all the new MMO's provide.
Games now you just zone in and kill the monster, pat yourself on the back and wait for your raid timers to drop off lockout.
Fighting 2 or 3 other guilds/raids of people for the same mob, now that's fun.
