man I ride my dirtbike fast, but road riding does not appeal to me, too many bad drivers out there who could easily wipe you out for good.
When I was getting ready to move to Florida I was SOOOOO stoked, I was planning to get my first sport bike, motorcycle period when I got here. Well, when i was here, I saw how bad the drivers were, I am talking scary at times even in a car so I am too scared to get a motorcycle down here.
I have been ran off the road multiple times, almost in bad accidents if I weren't a very responsive driver. I was in my first accident in like 8 years 2 weeks ago because the drivers here, someone went right through a yield sign, and was turning instantly right, well i wasn't but 30-50 feet or so from where they pulled out doing 50 or so. Well they pulled out, and came to almost a stop to make the turn 10 feet away from the merge, without even noticing me coming either that or not caring that I was coming, well I had to swerve a bit to not completely destroy myself by hitting her head on into her rear, when I swerved she then did the go wider the opposite way you are turning for some reason thinking it helps you turn somehow, so I had to inch over even a bit more. Well I hit the minivan in the lane I had to move in to, I lightly tapped her, did next to no damage to her vehicle, but mine is pretty smooshed in on the door and area surrounding it. Well, I decided to call the police to have a report for insurance, thinking it was a no fault accident with the situation, the other driver that I hit agreed that I had to either have what did happen occur, or else I would have smashed front end first into the basically not moving car that caused it all to happen because he went through a yield sign with me basically right there. Well the cops come, we tell them the story. We explain what caused it a few times saying I basically had no choice, was either cause the light accident I did or be in a huge accident. Well, in the end they gave me a fucking ticket for failure to maintain a lane, my jaw dropped I was so shocked... It was my idea to call them and that happens, I have no idea if they didn't understand what went down, or maybe they just did it to put me at fault who knows.
I still desperately want to get one, but it's just not a good idea here. Maybe I will pick up a dirt bike or quad or something, and find some places to learn and ride at around here.
