the mustangs weren't close

hot rod or muscle car mag / one of the car mags did a comparison back in 2008 when the challenger came out comparing the two in the modern vs restro style and the challenger kicked the shit out of the mustang.  The challenger in dimensions and looks was in the 90%'s similar to the original and the mustang i dont think iirc even got into the 70%s

lets compare (next to post showing retro vs modern challenger and retro vs modern mustang..

Bolded is one of my biggest upsets with the car.

I love the car. It's a blast to drive. But i'll be blunt and honest about it.. For 470bhp/trq the car is a pooch. Its ride quality is similar to my 3/4 ton (just less ass end bounce) and the interior for a 2013 top of the line model is sub par at best.

However, all of those downfalls have nothing to do with the reason i bought the car... I didn't buy it to be a strait line monster or a target parking lot cone weaver. It's honestly just a blast to drive. I would daily drive this car over a mustang or camaro any day of the week. I even enjoy driving this more than my built diesels. It's loud, obnoxious, and every time you jump on the loud pedal it brings a smile to your face. Those are the reasons i bought the car. If i wanted a nice ride i'd get a cadilac, if i wanted a track car i'd buy a vette. If i wanted a street machine i'd buy a gtr. However, for my use, none of those cars fit my needs or desires.

The challenger is honestly one of the very few (new model) cars out there that I love getting in and driving.

Insert honda civic with fart can in place of challenger in this post.

So you like it because it's loud

And it's a blast to drive

But it doesnt weave through cones in a parking lot

Or rip in a straight line

And it rides like a 3/4 ton diesel truck

And the interior is subpar

You just chronicled my issues with the car. So long as you like it more power to you. I think they look great but it doesn't really do anything exceedingly well. So beg my pardon if i talk shit when berg makes it sound like God's vehicle of choice.

Please proceed. I'll be the first one to back you up on it. For the power it makes and the money it costs to buy. It's pretty mediocre compared to it's competition.

It's an enthusiasts car, not a race car. Don't get me wrong. It's not "slow" but i wouldn't call it fast either. Quick would be a better word to describe it.

with aftermarket parts it could be a completely different car. You could shave the numbers down tremendously with suspension and tires... One of the biggest flaws is the amount of body roll and lack of traction the car has. Not hard things to fix by any means. Sure it's heavy and feels sluggish, but its not due to a lack of power.

All speaking towards the 392's I can't say for the 5.7L or the base model. I would only assume that the problems get magnified the further down the trim levels you go.

It's a miracle what a little honesty and an unbiased opinion can accomplish.
