Like in my dads 99 Ram 2500 with the v10??
I think that trucks rated at 300hp 450tq

Doesnt sound massive, how much of a game changer is that

Yes, same design. Just an iorn block with cast heads.

There are guys running that old block with cam/heads/intake/exhaust and upgraded fueling that push over 650hp

The reason the truck motor v10 is so low in number is due to the restrictions on the cam and head as well as the fuel delivery.

Does it really restrict that much hp? The tq isnt cut back much.
Could he really get that much hp with just heads and cam? Damn that wouldn't cost much at all right? How much you think?

If its that easy he should def do it, the truck would be wicked then haha.

Actually being a 99 the viper then had likr 450 hp right? Not 500+?

Cylinder heads and camshaft profile are the determining factor. A 140hp 350ci sbc from 1976 and a 900hp 358ci SBC drag engine both fill their cylinders with roughly the same volume of air. Heads/cam/intake/exhaust determine the power.

"A lot" depends on who you ask
I was just curious, cause it would be interesting to see such huge gains from that old truck with just a few parts

the viper motor is an entirely different design then the truck v10 (minus srt10 ram); ie- there are no interchangeable parts between the two. - the viper motor is a lamborghini designed aluminum block., the pickup truck is iron.

an iron block v10 would bend that poor gook cruiser in half
