I'm right at 2 hours from the Florida border on I-95 and about 2hrs 15 min from the coast.  We had a pretty mild summer this year.  It stayed in the low 90's through the end of july.  We only had a few days with heat indexes over 110 which is unusual. August was hot. The highs are still up in the 90s but this last front brought cool mornings between 62 and 70.  Now we are waiting out the humidity. 117 or 118 was the highest heat index of the year i think.

TBH i'm completely used to it.  I've been here my whole life and my work uniform is extraordinarily hot. Long sleeve level 2 FRC shirts and pants... often wearing a Gore-Tex acid suit over that...

If i'm wearing street close a heat index of 110 feels breezy lol.

Why would anybody subject themselves to that? 90 is blistering here in Ocean City, MD.

You adapt. This is far from the hottest place people live. We only get 1-2" of snow/ice every 2-5 years and it only sticks for a day or two. It gets into the low 20's with maybe 1 day a year in the upper teens. It is a wet cold but it only lasts 2 months.

Why anyone would want to live somewhere with a 6 month winter is beyond me. It works both ways.

I rarely see people choosing to move farther north. If the snowbirds around here are any indication they end up liking the heat better. It's oppressive but it doesn't fight every step you make like snow does.

I'm just far enough north that it still gets cold and far enough south that it doesn't snow. I'm almost to the beach now and it's 80. Sea breeze ftw.

I moved to Florida from NJ, I love the weather here. It gets hotter in the summer in NJ than it does here in FL, in jersey it used to get over 100 very often, here it hovers from 85-90 all the time. Winter its 75 or so and perfect.

Nothing worse in the wintertime than trucks and 4wd subarus thinking they can go anywhere at any speed with "all seasons" LOL

I was nice last winter and pulled a coupme people out. I think i'm gonna charge for it this year.

Funny as shit when you offer to pull them out of the ditch driving a ford festiva lol, they don't believe it till they see it!
