Still don't understand the reasoning of 245's being on a 470bhp car....

I never got that either, which is why within the first couple weeks of getting mine i put 275's on it.

i went to a 275-40-r20 vs the stock 245-45-r20

i chose that size because the physical diameter is the same so yur speedo wont be off

also you can run 315 35 r 20's also and be dead on. I went with 275s because 315s would be stretching it a bit (unless you go to a wider rim) and you will lose performance from the tire.

little thing showing whats bigger or smaller vs stock size.

red is bigger diameter, blue is smaller, green is exact as stock

255/40R20 = 28x10R20 2.4%
265/40R20 = 28x10.4R20 2.4%
295/35R20 = 28.1x11.6R20 2.1%
235/45R20 = 28.3x9.3R20 1.4%
305/35R20 = 28.4x12R20 1.0%

245/45R20 = 28.7x9.7R20 0.0%
275/40R20 = 28.7x10.8R20 0.0%
315/35R20 = 28.7x12.4R20 0.0%

255/45R20 = 29x10R20 1.0%
285/40R20 = 29x11.2R20 1.0%
295/40R20 = 29.3x11.6R20 2.1%
265/45R20 = 29.4x10.4R20 2.4%
245/50R20 = 29.6x9.7R20 3.1%
275/45R20 = 29.7x10.8R20 3.5%
255/50R20 = 30x10R20 4.5%
265/50R20 = 30.4x10.4R20

Throw a really nice clutch in it and procharge it.  I don't know what to tell you about the tires though.  Will anything bigger than 275's fit out back?  I don't know enough about these tanks.

stock challenger clutches are twin disc and can hold around 500whp.

alot of people are running 6-900whp on the stock trans just upgraded clutch and axels.

I'd imagine the stock 245s would probably perform better than the 275 truck tires you put on.

If he procharges it he will be over 500whp and will need a clutch. Derp?

well there are people that are running a sc and at about 600-650whp on stock clutch but again it depends on how hard you are on it.

500wp is safe but that isnt the ceiling.

they are performing a hell of a slot better then the indy 500 wide oval tires i had on it. alot better

the indys are rated at ultra performance summer tires on tire rack.

with the amount of weight the car is, more pavement contact with it being wider then stock, helps alot more then compound it seems.

as i said in the other thread, get 20's on a car and try finding decent tires in that size that arnt sport truck tires and arnt 350-500 a crack lol.

nice pick up, im a fan of the challengers. my favorite of the new pony cars or whatever you want to call them. my old mans 09 with a 6 liter ran 12:80s all day with just a tune and straight pipes. breaking into the 9s shouldnt be to hard once you get rid of some weight. however IMO with all the power you can get now the weight doesnt really matter anymore lol. you can get 700 hp from a junkyard motor with just a cam and a turbo, thats plenty to get that boat into the 10s IMO. but you have a 392, do what fmx said and procharge it, best bang for the buck. and since its a stick NN for a stall. gets ome stickys and drop the clutch at 4k and let it fly. one thing i noticed about the old mans was it came out of the gate like a goat then turned into a horse around 4k rpm. after the car reached that it hauled like crazy

I'd agree. The 392 is no different than any other hemi i've owned. It's gutless until you rev the dog shit out of it.
