yeah man, it's only an extra 8$ each oil change and makes the car run a lot better most of the time. Plugs get fouled so fast on turbo cars.

Just had a rather interesting problem. Cylinder 4 had another misfire, so I figured 'wtf, did I forget to clear it?"

I opened it up, and my plug had fused again (there was no gap on the spark plug head anymore, same thing that happened to the last one).

What on earth could cause spark plugs to fuse, especially twice in about 1000km?

E:

- No oil on the plugs, they're simply fusing together (Alleviate suggestions that it may be the head gasket)
- No other misfires on other cylinders, no random misfires (Alleviate suggestions about EGR valve)
- No distributor cap on this vehicle (Alleviate suggestions about that)

My thought is it may be timing or cooling systems? But if that's the case, why is only one fusing, where the others are just fine?

E2: (This happened about 500km ago, I just forgot to post it), I replaced the plug with another platinum one and have checked it every time before I left, it seems fine so far.

I don't know what the shape of the head looks like on that engine but the piston could contact the plug and beat it to pieces.

Added in a few things to the above post. If it happens again with this new plug it'll be a cause for concern - my first thought is just bad fuel and it didn't run its course the first time, we shall see though.

Hmm what is the color of the plug? What is the color of the rest of the plugs?

The fused plug has more black
All white/silver. Tiny bit of black around where the spark is generated.

I could be wrong but for the plug to get hot enough to melt together it would have to be lean as shit im thinking.. Either way like FMX said it could be that the plug is actually getting smashed shut.

Have you noticed any metal shavings at all? Try to look at the top of the piston through the sparkplug hole with a flashlight and check for dings or scratches.

Let us know what happens with the new plug if nothing else I guess..

Edit- and like IBOT said they all should be brown not white/silver so you may have a fuel/air issue

Like a brand new silver color? Or pure white? White isn't good
should be a golden Brown type color.

Yup, you're exactly right.

I'll take a look tomorrow night for metal shavings, I didn't notice any during the day, and when I put a magnet down the hole, nothing pulled back, and it was a fairly strong magnet.

I'll pull the new plug tomorrow evening, see if there's anything on it.

Brand new silver, the sheathe is white, not the plug itself. The sheathe came in a white color

The tip is golden brown ish color, yes. The other plugs look regular, with a bit of browning from the spark, of course.
