He meant older generation chevy with 350ci engine not 3500.
The 90's chevs are bullet proof, and 350 vortecs are snappy.
If you need to buy an older truck chevy is the way to go, keep in mind all of them will be gas guzzlers.

define gas guzzlers?

also the looking for the Cheapest/Best deal i can get ( so thats where brand can vary... just trying to educate myself as much as i can)

also... if i do out of truck bed ( no trailer)

how much gas could that save?

say trailers you get 10 would you get 15 ish with no trailer ( saying you get 18 mpg reg)

The drag of a small trailer is minimal. Have you thought about loading and unloading your equipment 10x a day? Everyone pulls a trailer for a reason.

i currently mow 23 properties ( i work for a property management company that owns 175-200 town houses)

so yes ive thought about that... and if money/storage was not a issue

id be getting a f250 4x4 with a 8x10 trailer and a 9.5' boss V Plow along with getting brand new equipment

but again since i dont have that luxury with storage im trying to be creative... plus loading/unloading it shouldnt be a issue at all and takes as much time as loading it to a trailer ( trailer would just be safer)

Please do not get some dinky ass little trailer. I've chased three companies out of my house already because they show up with some busted up little trailer with just enough room for the equipment and no room for the lawn clippings, old flowers, tree limbs ect. Fucking annoying when they dump it in the corner of my yard and then i have to take care of it. That is what i paid them to do after all...

Most of the companies that do well in houston actually have a cabover flatbed truck with sides and a pull behind trailer for equipment. Like this: (however, these guys are all white and down here, they are all mexican. Other than that, its just like that  )

Fuck that shit. There is a middle ground between brand new and trying to do it out of the back of a pickup. Those ramp systems blow. The first one puts your CoG up high and takes up all kinds of bed volume. The second one would get destroyed in a 5mph fender bender and obscures visibility. With that big of a mower in the bed of the truck you have no room for everything else. You also have no way to haul yard debris off. The first time you take a clean up job (not a town house) or trim some serious hedges you are boned. Loading that mower on ramps is risky, and given enough time there is a good chance one of those caster wheels runs off the edge.

Call all of the self storage businesses in your area and ask if they rent parking spaces. Lots of the bigger ones do. If you are serious about starting up this business a parking space big enough for a 16 foot trailer and a small storage unit for your equipment won't kill your profit. I know a guy that does just that because his homeowner's association does not allow trailers to be stored outside. I think it runs him about $130 a month for the space and unit.

a 16 foot trailer would be stupid for what im doing

most the properties in the area are 100x100 lots (.25 acres roughly) with lawns that take 10-30 mins to mow/trim/blow

also im not planing on getting a ride one... there a waste/more time consuming ( since i live in the granite state, everything has hills)

Best Trailer wise would be a 8x10 could even pull off a 6x10 any bigger your doing commercial... i want to stick to residential for now

and storage fee's can kill a small business ( just another overhead cost)

i just looked it up your talking a extra $100-$200 a month for a storage unit

You don't need a big unit, just a small one and a parking space. I did this for a living for about a year. There is a reason everyone around here pulls a decent sized trailer. Doing town homes you won't really need it but there will come a time when you will. If parking is no longer an issue, a 16ft trailer is not very big. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Those ramp systems do suck... ridiculous COG and the one is $2k retail...

You could get a new trailer for what $1-1.5K?

I am with everyone else on this one...
