Lol? Different vehicles are most efficient at different speeds. Some vehicles reach maximum efficiency at 60mph. Slower acceleration might be what you're talking about.

That depends on the transmission and has nothing to do with cold air intake.

True if you have an automatic and drive 40-45 mph and never engage 4th gear/OD granted you'll will use more gas....
I don't know the shift points of a Civic.

*Does the op have an automatic or manual?

*If he's driving 70+ mph on the high way instead of 55 or 60 I guarantee he's using more gas = as in slow down.
Surprised my original post was that hard for you to understand.

Is that the point are you trying to make?

A less restrictive intake can increase fuel economy but only in rare circumstances.

Cold air is denser.  It will make more power.  The computer reads intake air temp and factors it in to the fueling maps.  To stay at the desired air/fuel ratio it will have to add more fuel to balance out the cooler, denser air.  That makes more power, but uses more fuel.

You will never recover your investment.

Ignore the chucklehead recommending k&n.Oiled gauze filters are a thing of the past.  Dry synthetics are much better.  I run one on my diesel.  Everything else has an OEM style paper filter.  It filters far better and isnt a restriction in that setup.

^ this
Plus if you live in Phoenix or anywhere really dusty you'll find out the hard way how you don't want some K&N filter and/or cold air intake.

I guess kids nowadays would rather offer "LOL" (like CarsAnd Kush) as their rebuttal than actually doing any research.

Google is ignorant peoples friend.

You're the one that thinks driving slower will save you more gas rather than accelerating slower.

Accelerate full throttle at all time, but stay 5 mph under the speed limit.

Let me know how that works for you.

When accelerating an engine is most efficient at peak torque. Wherever that is.

Where did I ever say anything about driving slower is more important than how fast you accelerate? I never made that comparison.

I'll start over for you....

My general statement of "drive slower" relates toboth acceleration and overall speed. I never specifically commented on how aggressive you accelerate, you did.....

I would have expected anyone with a slight amount of intelligence would have understood that driving slower relates to both acceleration and overall speed, like I already said.

Seems not you unfortunately.

so OP's supposed to assume that driving slower means slow speed and acceleration? while OP is asking if an exhaust and cold air intake will increase mpg's.

But cars are in a variable load environment.

The slower the engine is turning (lower RPMS) the better the fuel economy will be.

I'm shocked my statement of "drive slower" is so difficult for you to understand.

This isnt about me. Its about OP. He's asking stupid questions, yet you want him to assume something involved with vehicles when he clearly shows that he has zero knowledge whatsoever.

Hop off my fucking nuts, dog.

wat? OP isn't asking stupid questions. He wants to save fuel. I simply commented drive slower. What does that have to do with assuming anything involved with vehicles? He can have zero knowledge like you say and still understand my comment of driving slower is his best option at saving gas in a Civic.
If he didn't understand I'd assume he would ask. The slower the engine turns the less fuel you use. Pretty simple concept.

We can go back and forth I'm enjoying this hole your digging yourself into.
