This. Was looking for one in Maryland when I was there a couple years back and was getting around the 22-26k range. 16.5 seems pretty reasonable.

Nah it does give you a little bit of buying power. Getting approved and such takes up a lot of the dealers time and in turn costs them more money. With money I can literally walk in, test drive, offer, and buy within the hour. My first car took me 3 hours to get out the door when I financed.

The only dealerships that care about cash now are the little ma and pa type dealerships. Big dealerships dont give a fuck because they end up making more money off of you if you make payments/lease. (fees and interest)

/e Its a fact that dealerships make less profit on cash purchases.

Not entirely true, but not going to fully disagree. Although you do make a valid point, a lot of dealerships need to hit certain sales numbers for volume. They don't make their primary income through financing but through goals set out by the parent company in which they have to hit at certain points of the year. Given this information, a cash offer holds a lot of weight on a dealer needing to hit it's volume number.

This applies to a lot of businesses outside the car realm as well.
