Figuring out the lower coil mounts. I welded the stock lower mount to a piece of plate.

Might need a little gusseting

Passenger side

I bought a cool link mount from Artec that’s for C channel frames. Doing some mock up:

The main plate was shorter than the frame so I cut a slight incision, bent it and welded it back

Then welded this mess to the frame

Then the rest of it welds on to the first piece

Then I figured out the location of the upper link mount on the axle

my buddy Rich came over and helped. We got all the brackets tacked on the axle and then pulled it out of the truck for final welding

Got the track bar bracket set on the frame, will run some gussets to the engine crossmember and hopefully up the side of the frame as well

Rich measured (twice), cut (once) and burned this piece in on the upper link, this will add a ton of strength

And we got the 205 in with the clocking ring, it gained a good 1.5-2” of clearance.

I had 2 of the studs in the wrong holes on the clocking ring and we spent at least 30 minutes trying to get it in… Not my best moment. After fixing the studs it went in about as easy as a 205 can, which is to say, not very.

Lots of good progress lately. I’m a little worried about the track bar length, its gonna be a bit shorter than the drag link and there was just no way to avoid it. There literally wasn’t room to get everything crammed in there.

Here’s a shot of the gusseted lower track bar mount, Rich cut out and welded these in. Between the whole back of the mount being welded to the truss and these gussets I think it’ll be strong enough.

I welded and painted the coil tower, bucket thingys.

You can see here where I welded in part of the stock 78/79 bronco coil bucket so the spring would sit in the bucket properly.

Burned in the frame mounts for the coils

Threw some paint at the axle

Then put the knuckles on the axle. Todays PSA, this is the right orientation of the lower bearing race and seal. Not that I did it backwards, because that’s stupid, just because I want you to know…
