Hadn't even taken Miatas into consideration, but that's definitely doable for a starter car.

As far as driving tips for drifting, I'm no drift expert or even an enthusiast, but any time I'm flyin through the mountains and have to break it loose and power slide, I notice that the feeling of the seat under my ass tells me a lot about where the car's going as compared to where it should be going. Sounds silly, but it's true. I'm also told by friends who are into drifting that throttle control is the #1 skill to hone.

clutch kick is where the fun is at

Miata or silvia are the easiest car to drift with

Miatas are not easy to slide properly haha.

Actually trying to control a drift is very different lol. Sliding around parking lots and going out on a track is very different as well.

I would assume it is. As I said, I'm no drift expert. Any actually experience I have with breaking the tires loose amounts to 10 years of running mountain roads, a few parking lot skids, and cutting numerous donuts.

Everything I might know about drifting specifically is based on watching speed tv and what I've heard from friends who do drift.

I had mind mostly set on a s14 due to it being a little better than then the s13 obviously yrt it wouldn't break me very much s15s cost more.
I know the ebrake trick but I lose a lot of speed when I do it.
I make it around the track fine but I won't be winning any races soon.

I all so heard suspension is crucial.
I was more of a drag person first but got tired of who had the most money and not as much skill involved.

I'd love to learn to take corners much faster while maintaning control.
I intend to go to a few more at my local raceway and continue to do homework
This won't be an overnight task
I'm doing it for the pure love I have of cars
I actually love to learn as odd as thst may sound. Hah.

I don't like miatas
Driving one alone is weird I hate the car itself
I love nissans hondas and toyotas as well
Just because they last forever and I can work on them the beat
Of course these aren't cars like the s14
Like I said I have a little 92 civic lx that fives me 34 mpg in the city and I learned a lpt by having it

If you're in the US an S15 isn't an option, they never sold them in North American. If you're losing alot of speed with an ebrake entry you're doing it wrong. Like I said if you actually want to get into it find a 240sx that isn't rusted out. Find a track with a skidpad ideally to learn on. Ask for help from people who actually know what they're doing when you're there, not your friend that knows who to do a "drift" in a parking lot lol. Be prepared to spend alot of money, its not a cheap sport.

Trust me, I know I will be sinking a lot into it.
I thought I read that the s15 is not an option..
I looked for one and nothing came up.. thought maybe too many people crashed..

I know I won't be using the parking lot.
I will be driving it around as well but normal driving.
I have no intention of hurting anyone on the street like kids nowadays try.
I'd like to get a shell and put in my own tranny and engine into the 240sx and maybe give it a little bit of a better thing
like better pistons or something since I will be putting it in myself and I have the time and money
it will obviously be a project once again not overnight =p
Like I said, I'm doing it for the love of it, not for fame.
So, dumping money and time will be no issue. =]
I may even talk to a few friends I have about half an hour away that have their own track
maybe I can practice at nights with it all lit up with his son I used to hang out with
I can't recall if it has one for drifting and drag but I'm sure he'd make one within the next year or so if I got his son into it if he doesn't

Cheap drift bucket you could just get a random s13 and weld the diff on it and clutch kick the F%#$ out of it. You could even Rb20 swap it for around 1k.
If you wanted to take your time with it i'd personally go s14 shell with either Ls1 or Rb25. s14's clean up alot better than s13s imo.

I went Sr20det with up grades into a cheap s13 shell. Depending on how much they sell for where you live you can usually find a s13 shell for around $500 and up depending on how good you want it to look.

I was thinking of this.
I am used to drag once again.
I need to understand the power and everything involved
I figured you'd need to adjust things depending on your horsepower so car can keep up
like for turning, right?
I have been putting a ton of thought into it.
I was wondering what engine to drop into it actually, I feel like an v8 might be a bit much starting out.
I don't want to rely on too much raw power.
I want to learn more about the car not just learn how to go fast
I want the mechanics of turning down before I upgrade the power too much and how I have to do suspension
I will have to talk to some people at races because I understand general concepts because I did a lot of homework
HOWEVER, it's different from reading and watching people compared to experienced people even on here.

I was looking at the engines and the rb25 seems good but the ls1 I couldn't get a striaght answer
I will have to look more into them when I haven't been up for 2 days straight.

It really just depends on how far into it you wanna go, if you're thinking local drift events and stuff small, I'd say start out of a stock S13 with a welded diff, and some cheap suspension. Plenty of people slide them just fine off the stock Ka motor which doesnt have any power at all.
Everyone around here is on the Ls1 banwaggon atm for their drift cars, its not a bad way to go alittle pricey, i personally like boost. Rb25 is nice power plus you can build it up over time if you want more power. The thing about those vs the Sr20det, the sr20 is alot lighter of a motor, tons of parts and as far as motor swaps go its by far the easiest to put into the S-Chassi... well it was made for it from the start so lol.. But like i said Just starting out i wouldnt worry to much about power, I'd go with a completly stock car and a welded diff, maybe some power by max coilovers on it to start out. Good way to give you a feel of the car without trying to leave everything to the motor.

You dont really need a set up so your car can handle the power, unlike drag racing loosing traction is the way to go ;P, you need it more for eliminating body roll and to keep everything nice and stiff

Thanks. That actually helps a lot.
It'd make it to where later on I could tear into an s14
I am trying to avoid turbo to be honest
I've heard it can diminish you in certain ways if you aren't careful so not my first pick starting out obv
I have been told mostly to drop the mustang 5.0 in it but all videos of people driving it slide out really bad

Hmm.. I may tweak with the tires and suspension on it but other than that keep it stock for the most part
