You'll get tired of a 250 in a week...You can start with a 600 if you're not a complete and utter moron. I did the same shit and got a 250 Ninja when I first started riding, it's seriously an awesome beater/commuter bike, but it seriously has no fucking power at all and is slow as shit. Granted it's fast enough, but it just has no "oomph", a 600 is the perfect street bike and can be learned on if you have any sense of self-control. A 1000 is just ludicrous for any situation on the street, people with bikes like that are just trying to compensate/look cool.

A 600 is fine to start with..I bought my first bike and it was a 600 when i was 19..no prior bike expierence, dirtbike etc. A bike only goes as fast as you open the throttle. Just because it CAN do 90+ in 2nd gear doesnt mean your going to.

Youll get bored of a 250 in a week as others have said. Dont listen to that bullshit to buy a 250. If your mature and responsible get a 600.

If your some idiot who just wants to try and die than no i wouldnt recommend a 600 as a starter bike since your an idiot.

I wish Harleys were more lenient for small people. I've been riding a Hydraglide and it's truly a pain in the ass to stop with it. Holding up half a ton on one foot at a light looks retarded as hell, lol.

Sportsters are on the smaller side, vrods arent very big either.

I wouldn't recommend a bagger though :P My buddy has a pair of street glides... like riding on air! I'd buy one if i wasn't so stupid with two wheels

I'd never degrade myself and ride a Sportster, and the VRods are ugly as hell.

I'd love to buy a Custom Deluxe, but the only issue is I dont have a spare 18 grand to throw down, and I will never buy a bike used. I know how hard I am on my bike and can only imagine what other people do to theirs, not to mention a lot of people don't do the maintenance customary like I do.

Street Glides are gorgeous bikes, just a little pricey. One day when I get the whole track-kick out of my system and save my pennies, I will own one. And when I get out of the military, cant afford one Enlisted.

You're talking about someone on D2JSP. Odds are he's in his teens and WILL be stupid. I have riding experience and still occasionally act stupid on my bike. Everyone does it. At least with a little experience under his belt, he'll know how to appropriately react to certain situations if he finds himself being stupid at that point in time.

If you're an idiot in general, don't drive at all. Thanks. Lol

Get a Hayabusa! Lmao!
Personally. I'd never go out and buy a 250. Better in the long run to get the 600.

Todays 250s are great ecobikes. Some of them are pretty good to dick around on also.

I find it hard to believe believe any of these people who say "you'll be bored with a 250 as soon as you sit on it." have actually ridden or owned a one. Don't get me wrong I own both a 250 ninja and a cbr600rr and I prefer to ride around on my cbr. That doesn't mean 250s are any less exciting, they both have their ups and downs. It really depends on how you define fun I suppose. On a 600 you are going to be able to accelerate like a bullet and go to very high speeds (with more comfort than a 250 on a cbr in my opinion). However a small 250 is a very flickable bike and cornering on it is a blast (very easy to get your knee down) at the same time you can still out accelerate most vehicles on the road and you can still go as fast as you need, they top out at around 100.

Both are acceptable to start out on if you're mature enough to pace yourself.
