I don't want to argue mustangs vs vettes here, but it is interesting how the price/performance of stock mustangs/camaros are recently creeping closer and closer to around where stock corvettes are

People are making some good points in this thread.  I gotta get my ass out to drive that ls3 car now and see for myself.  Hopefully I can get done work early sometime this week so I can.  We are currently working 6 days / week and my only day off is Sunday which makes it impossible to see cars :(

Checking out the new mustangs isn't a bad idea. If you are into corvettes I dont think you will like it much but it is a nice car. That being said I would pickup a used vette over a new mustang any day. As stated they have more power stock, less weight, better handling, etc.

Also I would still say a C6 vette looks better than the new 5.0 mustangs. Also they are VERY mod friendly. Not saying a new 5.0 isn't but not many people with half a brain are going to buy a new mustang thats just within their budget and then mod it to possibly void the warranty if something happens.

if i was being particular i would also look for one with magnetic ride suspension. i believe that was an option and not standard equipment on them wasnt it?

Yes but I believe its either the magnetic ride or the Z51 package, not both. From what I just read the Z51 is more performance oriented and is a little rougher on the street where as the magnetic has options with a tour mode for the street and a performance mode that stiffens everything.

auto w/ paddle shift

And I haven't yet. Getting out of the house during business hours is pretty much impossible for me right now. My girl takes my car to work every day since her car died a month ago. She's a teacher who works 35-40 min away, so the earliest she can get home is 445 if she rushes out the door. I have a work van (with gps so I cant drive it after hours) I take home so its normally no big deal.

Getting my financing in order now though. Been offered a 2.59% and 2.90% financing from companies on lending tree. Wanted to keep my payments <$400 / month and this would allow me to borrow $20k @ $355/month over 5 years.

After I get my financing in order and can figure out a day I'm going to give this dealer a car regarding this one. Hopefully he's flexible on the price:

found a pretty decent deal from a dealer that doesn't know what he has.

VIN check shows a 3LT car with NPP (Performance Exhaust) and Z51 package.
Dealer assures me its a base model with "heated seats" as its only option.
People on corvette forum have confirmed based on pictures its a 3LT car and taught me where to look to find the codes to see if its really z51/npp

going to try to get out of work early and test drive it tomorrow evening. If all goes well it might be mine
