honestly, id take that truck over a c5. but thats because im have some weird attraction to diesels, lifted 4x4 trucks and still running 12 seconds on 35 BFG AT tires :D

The truck the way it sits will hopefully pull a high 14.

The guy said he ran it down a track one day only and he could get low 15's out of it. Launched in third and never said what he trapped or what gear he was through the traps in. I would guese 5th and trapping around 100

14 is still faster than 60% of the vechiles out of the factory.

im hoping to do a 4bt build, but it wont happen for awhile

I'd love to see a 6bt dakota :P

Motors are just to heavy tho, i talked to a guy on the cummins forum last night and he said he had to redo 90% of the suspension / mounts to hold the motor / trans for the 6bt lol

This should be a fun truck. If i get a TT setup, and possibly a bigger pump / p pump / injectors i should be able to push 800hp if not more. ofc id have to start doing tranny / diff work at that point but would be a load of fun :P

why do you need a bigger truck?

and if you are getting the Cummins I am guessing you are using it for towing so get the full ton

3/4 tons are nothing but beefed up half tons and you will regret it if you are towing anything heavy

yes we are going to 5th wheel cattle haulers instead of regular tow-hitch haulers. The Dakota wont be happy with a 5th wheel lol.

We have tyhe 3/4 ton on the farm with the HD & towpackage and we've never come close to not being able to pull something yet.

Went to look at this thing today, what a joke... he just badged a 3/4 ton with 1ton badges lol.

Truck was in rough shape and nowhere near 15k.

Oh well :) The search for a 12v continues

its not that it won't pull it, it's that you will break that rear end because its just a beefed up 1/2 ton

if you are hauling anything really serious like a triple axle fifth wheel then def go for the full ton I can't tell you how many broken Dodge 3/4 ton rear ends I have seen hell I saw two just this last week out in Cal City

tough break man I'm sure you will find one but you may be hard pressed to get it for 15k

Actualy, a 3/4 ton is the same thing as a 1 ton, just has weaker leafsprings in the rear ;) idk about ford / chevy tho

And the 94-98.5 cummins are like 6-9k for a clean one with under 200k on the clock. Then i can dump the 6 speed and get a 5spd!!

ill just build one myself, and if i put 7-9k in it i can have a 12v that would run circles around that 24v i looked at

no in all 3/4 ton trucks on the market today the 3/4 ton is the half ton + beef not the full ton - beef Dodge is no exception

Look at a 1994-98.5 dodge ram 3500 and 2500.

The only difference you will find is that the 3500 is a dually with 1 more leaf spring.

Hence why alot of guys look for the "camper special" ram 2500's They are a SRW 3500, which dodge never made until 2003.

The basic suspension, frame, motor, trans, front end, everything is the exact same in the 2500 and 3500. The only factor setting it apart is a leaf spring and 2 extra rear wheels. (and gas as fuck fender flares)

Now when you talk about newer models, the base model 2500 is a beef'd up 1/2 ton. Unless you get the heavy duty package which turns the 3/4 ton into a spitting image of the 1 ton.
