yea im kinda thinking that too, they really see mto get into some of these cars talking about the mods and such.

its always fun to take anything out on to the drag strip but hondas are much more at home with a lightly tuned race engine on a track. :)

ya but they cant really be pushed to the limit with all that understeer, you remember that rx7 vs civic race, it understeered so bad he didnt even go in the turn all the way, he just went strait
on the otherhand the S2000 is a really great track car, i remember when they had the full CF s2k @ 400hp and 1600lbs, that thing flew around the corners

nah i dont recall that vid, im assuming it was not a real race prepped civic though.

with a real 4 way adjustable damper setup, adjustable roll bars, and all the necessarily mods for fully adjustable alignment someone who knows how to tune a race suspension can set the car up so that the understeer is not near as bad, it is still there u cant get completely rid of understeer in any car with any amount of power to the front wheels.

I was referring more to grassroots type SCCA racing and such. there are a couple of class's that civics dominate. FWD cars dont really do very well in higher class racing say over 250-300 hp, thats usually around the time u start loosing traction coming out of corners accelerating into a straight. its hard make a FWD car with good straight line traction and one that handles well, the suspension setting required for keeping weight on the front wheels are not affective for cornering.

in a head to head race 2 cars same weight, same power, same weight ratio, fully tuned race suspension/chassis, one FWD, and one RWD the RWD will win. race leagues make diff power to weight ratio requirements for diff drivetrain types giving FWD cars a weight advantage usually.

yes S2000's can be great track cars.

o ok, well if it was downhill thats just not a good place for a FWD car. tho a FWD car can still be tuned to turn with very little understeer weather that particular one was or not.

driving skill plays a huge role too, driving a FWD car fast is very diff from a RWD car. imo RWD cars are easier to drive at their fullest ability on a track or pass or where ever.

in a RWD car when coming into a corner u turn in under deceleration or braking countersteer if needed and try to keep the weight mostly on the front wheels untill u pass the apex, then its all gas and countersteering.

in a FWD car coming into a corner u have to not only keep weight on the front wheels for good turn in but u also have to still keep weight on the rear wheels meaning u have to accelerate slightly and brake with the left foot to keep the car balanced coming in. once u hit the apex its pretty simple apply enough gas to accelerate as fast as u can without creating understeer.

was it one of those races on the gunsai or was it some nightime pass racing?
