Yea, but more autocross tracks have at least a few parts when you'd switch gears. It wouldnt be putting the driver to a greater challenge unless he had to be good at shifting the transmission too. (Idk if that makes sense, I'm baked and I think it does)
The size of the lot/club determines that. Some clubs run it tighter like UFO which is who that club was, and other clubs like the corvette, and AAS run wider more straight courses, but if anything you'll be in 3rd for a second and then have to shift back down on some hairpin or 90* turn. On that field, you can't use much more of the lot
