Yeah, a whole lot of work, considering this is still all the "prep" work for the actual fuel injection wiring. I'm just making a clean canvas, from which to work from.

Now I need to attack the problem of my tacky intercooler pipes and ugly blue couplers. Despite the bitchen deal I got on them, they have to go. Once the flanges are welded to the pipes, I'm having them powder coated crinkle black, and I'm going to just bite the bullet and buy black couplers to replace those gaudy blue ones.

Radiator comes next week. Until then I'm going to be fine tuning my fuel system, and plumbing.

Very nice bro... I know how it is with the couplers... When we put the bbk system in Chico's Integra we got stuck doing the same.

Okay, so today I started playing with my fuel lines...

I began figuring out how I was going to get the fuel where it needs to go.

I completely changed the routing of my fuel feed line. It used to run parallel with the return line that runs up the passenger side of the engin3 bay. I changed it to now feed from behind my motor. So now the system is a circular circuit.

Since I changed my fuel rail, I also needed to find a new place for my fuel pressure regulator. As seen in the picture, the regulator originally was intertwined within the OEM fuel rail. (and yes, this is what a stock version of the turbo motor looks like. A stark difference from mine.)

So I adapted it a little, and found what I thought to be very clever new mounting location; now at the front of the motor. The placement for the return is PERFECT.

I used aluminum 5/16 hard line and made a set of lines to route along the motor. I'm pleased with the overall appearance. Very tidy clean look.

You can clearly see the path the fuel system in the following picture. ( NOTE: I intend on adding a fuel filter in line right before the fuel rail, somewhere around the firewall, I just didn't have one for this test)

TL;DR - New fuel system runs (feeds) from...... Behind the motor ---> Fuel rail and injectors --> Fuel pressure regulator (relocated) --> Fuel return (silver hard line running along passenger side of bay)

The car is a 73 240z, it originally came with a 2.4l carbureted inline six (240=2.4L 260=2.6L 280=2.8L)

All Datsun Z cars from 1970-1983 used virtually identical block shapes, so any motor from 1970-1983 will fit in any Datsun. Without any modifications.

But, there are a few different block/head combinations, so not all Datsun motors are the same. The compression varies greatly, as do some internal components.

My motor is out of a 1976 Datsun 280z 2+2 originally. It is a 2.8 liter that has been bored .030 over, uses oversized pistons, and stainless valves, with a N/A cam.

I pieced together my motor specifically to be fuel injected and turbocharged, and I ended up with a 8.3:1 compression motor. For monotony's sake, I'll just leave it at that.

Thanks

Today nothing major, as I'm waiting for parts.

So I tinkered with and shortened my intercooler piping. Fitment is getting much better. Once the radiator arrives, I can confirm.

Before:

Shortened:

God I hate those damn blue couplers.......

Still need to make some brackets for the intercooler, and fine tune the last inch or so of adjustment once the radiator arrives. Then I weld the BOV flange, IAT bung, and powdercoat. Then this stage is done.

Also! I think I have sourced out my new transmission. If all goes well, that is. 1983 280zx Close Ratio 5 speed. Completely rebuilt, 0 miles.
