I have a couple of posts to respond to...

You simply have a high standards of what is fast.....Yet in the practical sense, you're completely wrong.
I NEVER mentioned ANYTHING about track OR modded cars......
Your logic is awful......your theory is that cars under 50k are slow....Really?.....
Obviously we're not on the same page, I am simply talking about DDING.
Maybe your standards are low? That works both ways my friend. No one can decide who's idea of fast is correct because it's an opinion. What I can tell you is thinking a car who's 0-60 time is between 5 and 6 seconds is fast will get you laughed out of any actual competitive environment. Here is a video of a V6 Camry slotting itself into your "fast" bracket:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TdAQn0CAu4. I said anything I can go to a dealership and finance for <$50k is not
abnormally fast because it's not abnormal. It's an average car on the road. It would have to be a fair amount faster than any random car you pass out of 1000 to be abnormally fast. A stock mustang GT is a dime a dozen car. It's actually a pretty good benchamark. Anything slower than that is slow. Anything faster than that garners more and more respect. Truth be told if it isn't capable of an 11 second pass it's really not fast. I have as much or more experience than anyone who posts in the section when it comes to "Fast" street cars. That's my niche. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a fucking duck. If it has less power than a minivan it's slow. The only out for that would be something like the Aerial Atom.

....Get out....
seriously.....
I did DD my Formula with no problems. I even got 24mpg on the highway. Not bad for over 525hp out of an engine that had 350hp stock.

..... Really? You don't understand do you?
The point is, people are overlooking "fast cars" and turning their eyes on the brZ.
Read shit on ft86 club. Or subaru brZ forum, the amount of attention that these cars are gettin from owners of"fast" cars is highly significant .
@ babolat, it doesn't matter what color everyone else has, get the color you want the most
Did the guy that DD's the 600hp corvette get rid of the vette?
This car is a great addition to a garage that has something like that if you want to keep the fun to drive factor in a DD. It's like having a Camry to keep the mileage off the vette that still feels like the vette until you get into the gas hard. That makes it a great alternative for an enthusiast. I could see myself driving one for that purpose maybe.

I met a guy with a Ferrari 458 and he owns a couple bicycles...
The fucks your point.
A perfect example is my friend that owns a Viper, a Gallardo, an NSX, a C6 vette, an F250, a Jag XJ, and a 97 Saleen. Having all of those cars he bought a Miata just to fuck around with. He has much faster cars and cars that handle much better, but he doesn't want to go flog the shit out of them. It doesn't mean he would pick the miata if he had to pick just 1. I think that is where these guys are fucking up. They think this is the end all be all enthusiasts car. That's just not the case. It's great for it's intended purpose and audience.
It's a well thought out platform that I'm sure we will see more of once the aftermarket gets hold of them. That said, fanboi's that run around trying to tell everyone they are wrong when they say in their personal opinion they wouldn't drive one can suck a dick. I remember a lot of hype about an Asian import with RWD not very long ago. It was supposed to be the return of the domestic killers. It IS the Hyundai Genesis. Fanboi's did the same shit with that thing. Here we are 2 or 3 years later and everyone has forgotten about it. All that hype and the V6 Camaro and Mustang stomped it into the ground. It feels like the import crowd tried to sweep it under the rug once it disappointed them. This is the same shit all over again.
