this.  And I dont really see why someone with a faster car would even look at the brz unless they were gonna DD it

I'll be test driving one tomorrow but there is a reason these guys are trading in much faster cars for the BRZ. I'll let you know.

I find the idea of switching from a corvette to a brz pretty funny. Id be pretty depressed if I had to give up a 600hp vette for a slow brz.

Many people are doing it, although the posts I saw, they kept their vette.

Maybe if you took 5 minutes to read forums, you would understand why. Many people are trading in their fast cars OR purchasing the BRZ because of the driving pleasure it gives.

This thread has been open for weeks and STILL hardly anyone has done the slightest bit of reading/research.

I think most people get the point, it handles well. Theres not exactly much that needs to be read to understand that a light weight, low CG, balanced car will handle well. The only other facts about it are that its not too expensive and not very fast.
I can understand wanting to add a go-cart like car to the garage just for fun but its not really a car to take to the road courses and run with the fast cars in.

I have a couple of posts to respond to...

You simply have a high standards of what is fast.....Yet in the practical sense, you're completely wrong.

I NEVER mentioned ANYTHING about track OR modded cars......

Your logic is awful......your theory is that cars under 50k are slow....Really?.....

Obviously we're not on the same page, I am simply talking about DDING.

Maybe your standards are low? That works both ways my friend. No one can decide who's idea of fast is correct because it's an opinion. What I can tell you is thinking a car who's 0-60 time is between 5 and 6 seconds is fast will get you laughed out of any actual competitive environment. Here is a video of a V6 Camry slotting itself into your "fast" bracket: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TdAQn0CAu4. I said anything I can go to a dealership and finance for <$50k is not abnormally fast because it's not abnormal. It's an average car on the road. It would have to be a fair amount faster than any random car you pass out of 1000 to be abnormally fast. A stock mustang GT is a dime a dozen car. It's actually a pretty good benchamark. Anything slower than that is slow. Anything faster than that garners more and more respect. Truth be told if it isn't capable of an 11 second pass it's really not fast. I have as much or more experience than anyone who posts in the section when it comes to "Fast" street cars. That's my niche. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a fucking duck. If it has less power than a minivan it's slow. The only out for that would be something like the Aerial Atom.

....Get out....

seriously.....

I did DD my Formula with no problems. I even got 24mpg on the highway. Not bad for over 525hp out of an engine that had 350hp stock.

..... Really?  You don't understand do you?

The point is, people are overlooking "fast cars" and turning their eyes on the brZ.
Read shit on ft86 club. Or subaru brZ forum, the amount of attention that these cars are gettin from owners of"fast" cars is highly significant .

@ babolat, it doesn't matter what color everyone else has, get the color you want the most

Did the guy that DD's the 600hp corvette get rid of the vette?

This car is a great addition to a garage that has something like that if you want to keep the fun to drive factor in a DD. It's like having a Camry to keep the mileage off the vette that still feels like the vette until you get into the gas hard. That makes it a great alternative for an enthusiast. I could see myself driving one for that purpose maybe.

I met a guy with a Ferrari 458 and he owns a couple bicycles...

The fucks your point.

A perfect example is my friend that owns a Viper, a Gallardo, an NSX, a C6 vette, an F250, a Jag XJ, and a 97 Saleen. Having all of those cars he bought a Miata just to fuck around with. He has much faster cars and cars that handle much better, but he doesn't want to go flog the shit out of them. It doesn't mean he would pick the miata if he had to pick just 1. I think that is where these guys are fucking up. They think this is the end all be all enthusiasts car. That's just not the case. It's great for it's intended purpose and audience.

It's a well thought out platform that I'm sure we will see more of once the aftermarket gets hold of them. That said, fanboi's that run around trying to tell everyone they are wrong when they say in their personal opinion they wouldn't drive one can suck a dick. I remember a lot of hype about an Asian import with RWD not very long ago. It was supposed to be the return of the domestic killers. It IS the Hyundai Genesis. Fanboi's did the same shit with that thing. Here we are 2 or 3 years later and everyone has forgotten about it. All that hype and the V6 Camaro and Mustang stomped it into the ground. It feels like the import crowd tried to sweep it under the rug once it disappointed them. This is the same shit all over again.

i'm strictly talking DDing, so arguing further about speed is pointless.

He kept his vette. here it is http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8331

The Genesis actually has received even MORE attention since it's 2012 make over.

You must not be too familiar with Ford.
200 mph capable GT500 starts at $48k I believe.

The BRZ is neat, but its not really great at much. Not enough power to hang with most performance cars in anything more than a parking lot road course.
For a DD it wouldnt be too bad, but id miss the power too much. The genesis seems cooler to me but I dont know that much about it.

And what do you have to say about drivers who are switching from high powered vehicles to the BRZ?

The whole point is the BRZ is proving is that power isn't everything and it's succeeding.

Power isnt everything, but neither is handling. Youve got cars like Mustangs and Vettes that can corner almost as well as the BRZ when tuned right and then double/triple the power to pull out of corners or down straight aways.
No matter how much everyone likes the BRZ, its not a great track car unless you are racing low end cars.

Coming from someone who owns both a Mustang and lowered/modded miata Id say I have a decent idea of what im talking about. My mustang has a measly 300 HP and it would probably murder our miata or the BRZ in a road course just because it handles decently and has the power to make up for when it cant.

What will truly be worth debating is when Hyundai releases the 5.0L Genesis. Then well see how well the imports really run.

Yes I've noticed that. It doesn't change the fact that the release model flopped big time.

Yes I'm aware of Ford... honestly your comments insult me. According to Ford the GT500 starts at $54995. Then there is a $3500 "Performance Package" that you have to purchase if you want your 200mph car to have a Torsen diff. You would think a company's top tier car would come standard with the better diff.

I was making a point. No need to take it literally.
