The consistency of an automatic combined with how hard the launch when tuned right would be awesome, but it would just feel wrong for a car like that.
But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that was sarcasm directed at Sopranos.
The automatics can be tuned to shift HARD and very quickly which is great for drag racing, not to much for a road course.

drag racing vs the tree= automatic ftw

Is your Shitstang automatic too you cunt?

You and Sopranos should put some money on a race, even though he probably has none considering the kid can't even afford his own car.

You need a transbrake obviously and there goes your warranty if thats what you decide to do.

Get a 6 speed, especially if it is mainly for riding around town.

That way you can have some fun launching it if you want and it's also still trackable.

/e nvm just read last page and this kids a tool.

You dont need a transbrake to race an auto lol.... usually dedicated race cars are the only ones with transbrakes. I've seen 1.3x 60ft times leaving off the footbrake. An auto is about consistency and the torque converter delivers power smoothly to the tires instead of shocking the driveline.

There used to be a sick 67 Fastback with a built 351 that came out to the street races and that thing would lay down 1.5 60 fts leaving off the footbrake on the street. Pretty sure he had a built C4 with a decent stall. Car was very basic and only ran mid to high 10's but it left so hard it made alot of $$$

Thats kind of the standard auto setup out there. A transbrake does you no good on the street haha.

Well, unless you prep the street okc style.

So how exactly do you launch an automatic then?

One foot on the brake one foot reving then just let off the brake? Isn't that hard on the engine and the car?

You've never done a burnout have you?

You hold the brake and apply enough throttle to get the converter up near its stall speed (just before the wheels spin) then let off the brake and stab the skinny pedal. Sometimes stock cars leave harder off idle by letting off the brake as you hit the gas which flashes the converter. That is about the easiest way to launch a car wide open. A transbrake locks the transmission in first gear and reverse at the same time allowing wide open throttle without worry of creeping forward. Release the button and it pops out of reverse in milliseconds. That applies full power in first gear nearly instantaneously. Then with a manual you can hold rpm then slip or dump the clutch. Both shock the driveline worse than an auto. Slipping cooks the clutch. Dumping shocks everything.

google how a torque converter works and you will see why an auto is easier on parts than a manual and why the power delivery is smoother. Then I can explain why a custom stalled converter is the fastest way you can leave in a door car.
