I wouldn't accept a reman even. Guaranteed they're looking for a pullout though.

Brand new might not be available for his application. A well done reman should be better than the stock one he had. I'd push for new until they said it was impossible.

Its an RSX, I'd imagine one shouldn't be that hard to find. He's gone about this entire process wrong though lol.

Well I'm only 16, I don't have much experience in life with these sort of situations.

Well your father should have some kind of idea then if hes involved too lol. You want to make sure they are putting in a new transmission and tell them you want a rental car until its done.

The mechanic said they needed to look at the transmission because a gear could have damaged the pressure plate which damaged everything else..

But that would mean I would have miss shifted, which I didn't, plus the clutch was stuck to the floor when i tried to go into 4th.

Isnt there a wall separating the gears and the clutch assembly? When I was looking at the K series transmission diagram, it would have hit the flywheel first. I showed the pictures i took to my brother and he said the flywheel looked like it was still intact.
There is no way 4th gear broke and flew through the housing, dodged the flywheel, and only hit the pressure plate.

Am I wrong? Someone enlighten me.

You are exactly right. Internals of a manual trans rarely break through the case even in a worst case scenario. It is much more likely that the clutch/pressure plate.came apart.

Reused shoddy pressure plate bolts.
Not torqued to spec.
No alignment dowels.

Any one of my guesses.

I think I was wrong.

It would hit the pressureplate first it seems.
Mechanic said there was a second hole going up. Not sure it was up towards the engine/intake or up and an angle towards the transmission.

If a gear did manage to break, fly through the housing, and hit the pressure plate. That means I miss shifted. I didnt technically let the clutch out since it stuck to the flood when I tried to go into fourth so doesn't that seem like an invalid thought?

What are the chances that parts of the pressure plate broke and flew towards the transmission, damaging parts of it, and then him blaming me for not driving correctly because of the some damaged transmission gears that "broke" the pressure plate.

Idk if it matters, but when my car was off after it broke down, it let me go into all the gears.

i don't think any court is going to side with the shop when this happened soon after it was worked on.

they can keep coming up with excuses but none of them will hold up in court so make sure they know you are willing to take it that far if they wanna keep playing games.
