just keep making excuses... other drivers could do it, tony stewart is known for being a hothead, the videos of the scene look very suspicious to say the least but yeah sure, fanboys gonna be fanboys, ignorance is bliss...

I don't give a flying fuck about tony stewart. I don't like someone being crucified by people that normally wouldn't have an opinion on the matter. The overwhelming theme in this whole debacle is the one's pointing fingers at stewart have never been to a race much less a local level dirt track. The things you are calling excuses are circumstances that led to this kid getting killed.

ESPN interviewed a driver from that race and he said it looks like tony was hitting the throttle to steer the car away from the kid. He even explained how you steer a sprint car with the throttle.

one of wards friends who was in the race also said he made a bad choice by going down the track. i guess the fact that 2 other people almost hit him dont register with some of these donkeys

That's the first time I've seen it in slow motion. You can clearly see him grab the wing. I think the kid was trying to hit the car which is stupid, but nonetheless people do it all of the time. They don't do it to an open wheel car though, especially a sprint car. How wide of a RR do they run KOJ? It is at least 14" probably 16". By the time you reach out and touch the side of the wing you are right in the path of the rear tire.

You can see the rear end of the car jump to the left right as he hits him. That pretty much seals up whether he was hitting the gas to roost him or avoid him.

Lost in all the resulting fallout of the Tony Stewart – Kevin Ward Jr. tragedy is a report by a fellow driver who was also in Saturday night’s fateful race field and witnessed the incident.

“From what I saw, Tony did everything in his power to turn down away from Kevin to avoid him,” sprint car driver Cory Sparks told Rochester.twc.news.com.

Sparks was a few cars behind Stewart on the racetrack but had a clear field of vision of what occurred, and said that videos that have been made public do not tell the whole story.

“People say that they heard the engine rev up and he gassed it,” Sparks said of Stewart. “In a sprint car, the only way to steer is you steer with the rear wheels as much as you do the steering wheel. In my opinion, what he did was he (Stewart) gassed it to turn down away from him (Ward).”

width depends on what sanctioning body they are running under, and what type of spirnts they are, winged 305/360/410 or non winged spec/305/360/410 ect

but off the top of my head, the local guys run like 18-20 inch across, but around the us, they run from 16-21 inch depending on surface and other conditions
