how could it have been avoided and what are your views on it?

getting rid of race car driving as a whole would of made this situation non-existent.

it's too dangerous, it's a lot of air pollution, it's a lot of noise pollution, it makes situations where people can/do die into a spectators dream come true.

there is no NEED to have race cars or cars that can go over the speed limit.

we should start calling cars that have higher performance ratings "assault cars" and ban them especially if they are colored black and are stick shift.

i'm not saying tony stewart wanted to kill kevin ward jr. but i'm pretty sure he wanted to hurt or at least scare the shit out of him and doing so he was indeed risking his life.
sure, it was not smart to run on the track like ward did but not only was the race slowed down, it's also not the first time we saw a driver doing that, in fact stewart himself did it before...

stewart is a good enough driver to prevent that accident but being a hot-headed bastard, he just didn't care enough so he should be punished...

The difference in this situation was sprint cars with poor visibility, bad lighting, open wheels, and proximity. The kid got way too close and made an aggressive move down the track at the last second.

It was also a cooldown lap. They had not yet slowed down to caution pace. That is why you aren't supposed to get out of your fucking car.
