Keep that battery on a tender don't want your steeling column to lock up on you driving.
Or you can do the steering column lock bypass and be done with it.
The C5 platform is great. They are getting older now and the complex electrical system required to do everything a c5 does can give you problems. The electrical was engineered in the mid 90's. Keep that in mind and you'll be fine. They can display pcm, bcm, tcs, radio, and other codes on the DIC. Everything from communication errors to blown light bulbs will set a code you can read from there without a scanner. Mine makes a bit over 800whp and I could still drive it daily here in SC if I wanted to.
Get on corvetteforum and start reading the C5 section. In a week you can know everything one could expect to go wrong.
