I know there are some civics out there with some swapped motors that are pretty gnarly, but aside from a swapped motor can they even compete against the typical rods like camaros, mustangs, wrxs?

Of course. It all depends though. Driver skills, road conditions, what exactly is tunes on the car. Some engines are great and have potential.

Honda's (In Japan specifically) are considered the econobox of car manufacturers. Tons of "tuning" companies who sell crap to kids with a job. Then of course, fictional movies like Fast and Furious come along and all of the 4 banger fans get silly ego's.

No replacement for displacement.

Actually there is, it's called technology.

Yes you can do the same thing with big motor blah blah... but it's just a heavier version of the same idea that needs the extra power to keep up.

But civics are still fwd eco boxes... there is a damn good reason why the Toyota and Nissans are at the top of the import scene. They are simply better designed for performance than hondas.

Nope. That's a whole bunch of nopes.

An aluminum 5.3L(323ci) LS block and a 440ci ls3 stroker weigh the same thing. The only thing you are guaranteed to add with displacement is cubic dollars.

B16 and an ls1 weigh the same.

I would take a Honda NSX over a Camaro or Vette any day of the week.

Not for performance but yes, they are cool cars. Terribly expensive to mod though

For collective value? Sure, I would take an NSX any day of the week over a corvette, unless it was a 68 l-88 or something. If you're picking the NSX over a Corvette of equal value for superior performance, you'll be highly disappointed.
