I'll try and put this nicely, but the fact is if you don't have the cash to make real power you're completely wasting effort in "weight reduction" for a performance in a daily. The gains you will see out of the work for a car like that is something you probably won't ever notice. Just drive it and do motor/drivetrain work when you can if you want, but imo just keep it reliable and get through school.

I mean you could do things like this..

I didn't say it was worth it lol. I just said that would be the best way to reduce weight without and actual hacking at anything, and doesn't cost anything other than the plexiglass
