Check first with all the lines coming off for a vacuum leak. If not, it could be the check valve or it could be the air valve.

hope it's not the air valve, looks hard to get @ / expensive to fix xD
now that i think about it, the brake pedal is pretty plush too, i wonder if that's a symptom
thx for the input

is my car safe to drive still despite this issue? like, it runs nicely once the ebrake light comes on, and my brakes work even though the pedal is pretty plush.
hmmm

Put a cool sticker over the idiot dash warning lights.

Hope this helps.

Try and inspect the brake booster lines locate the ones that go into the intake manifold test for vacuum leaks with starter fluid.

thanks for the tips
i can't personally do any of this but i will take note

is the car still safe to drive in the meantime in your opinion? feels totally fine once the ebrake light comes on and it smooths out. brakes seem to be functional albeit a little on the plush side

I don't know. I don't wanna say probably. if you do just be cautious. My ford taurus sho the abs light comes on and it drives fine sometimes sensors are malfunctioning.
