"Old 5.3" There's a reason it hasn't changed much. They are very dependable engines. There's TONS of vehicles with the 5.3 that are over 300k and running as strong as ever, they are just good.
When you ask and the vote is heavily in favor of a 5.3, there is probably good reason.
There is a reason they retain value, as well. Low mileage cheap ones are hard to find.
135k on a 5.3? Lol, cool it just got broke in, it's got 300k more. :p

this, but I also don't get where you think a armada can out pull a Tahoe, I had a 2003 Tahoe with a 5.3 that pulled like a champ with 250k on it

eh i see.
i am leaning towards the armada in favor mainly because of features as well. the dash looks ugly in the tahoes. armads dash has definable features as well.

also i have 2 kids and we take trips from ohio to arkansa every year 18 hour drive. the tahoe doesnt have tv's as the armada does come with them naturally. plus i have a huge system 4'15's and i think the cargo area might be a bit bigger in the armada.

i also plan on pulling a trailer and i think the specs are far superior in towing on the armada as to the tahoe.

i looked around again last night and found a few tahoes 110-130k mile range. for about the same price as an armada.
only reason im weary is i have 6 grand to put on a down payment. plus my trade in possibly 5 grand from my charger. i had a old blazer with 4'15's the system is sitting in my garage as i couldnt even get 2 15's in my charger.
any ways. ^ usually banks will not finance a older car for a extended period of time. example. 2007 or 2008 ahoe they might not finance it at 60 months. they might only want to finance it at 36 months which would bring my payments up quite a bit.

as to a 2010 armada im in the year range where its possibly i can get 60 or 72 mnths financing for $100-$150 range monthly payment.
my price range is a low 16 grand start off. im hoping to finance at most 7 grand.

does anyone know anything about the 5.6l's in armadas? or are you guy only familiar with the gm's 5.3l

my buddy who has been a master tech mechanic for 30 years ays im jumping from one frying pan to another if i go from dodge back to the tahoe. but says alot of good things about nissan

thanks for all the help guys.
i think i have been maybe overlooking dependability on features and looks. ive owned 3 chevy's and loved them. gunna go out and find a ltz hopefully.

i cant seem to find aot of info in armada dependability besides 2 people really.
only major concern is that them check engine lights on the gm's :/
almost every chevy i owned was common problem.

but i guess that might be the same for everyone else

From what I've been told and experienced, the weak spots on the tahoes are the engine mounts/transmission mounts. I had a cracked tranny mount and a broken engine mount, and was told by the dealership that it's pretty common (not to mention I do not go easy on it over speed bumps) . It was also cheap as shit to get those replaced.

My 07 tahoes at 82k miles and besides the mounts it has just had basic maintenance (alternator and spark plugs replaced). At around 80k miles. I fully expect this vehicle to continue trucking for a long while.

Also the features you listed earlier (tvs and whatnot) are available as options in the higher models... Just gotta be willing to spend more for them.

Sounds like it's a more of a budget issue as to why you're pushing against the Tahoe. But it's your car, we can only give advice based on experience

def budget issue. i pay 400 month right now. im trying for 150 top if possible.
although i could easily get a 20k tahoe 2011+ with under 90k miles but id probably be paying 350+ im trying to drop my payments uite a bit as i got 2 kids now and a bigger house and more bills.

well eff it. im going for a tahoe. thanks everyone.

found one with 108k miles on it. perfect carfax 1 owner fully loaded in dash nav etc.
14 grand. did the math
downpayment of 6 grand plus trade in of hopefully 4500-5000 interest tax title and fees etc. should be around $100 month if not few more bucks..

leaves me with over 350 a month extra on goodies

my girl works at conrads and can get a free 72 point inspection done.

I doubt you'll be disappointed as long as it's in good shape. Make sure to check out the things I mentioned above.
