Can you break down the Year make and model of your vehicle and exact parts he changed? I should be able to come up with something.

this, running and shaping all new lines isn't a fun task, not hard but very annoying. And if he replaced all the metal brake lines I don't think he raped you but he didn't give you a hell of a deal

And IMO don't complain if you took it to a shop you could have done it yourself and saved money, should have thought about that before :p

for all lines it mightve been worth not having the headache of having to bend all those lines lol. ive done any of ours that has needed it and its not hard its just tedious as fuck to get that exact right bend to follow the mounts

it's not to bad if you have a LOT of line
Just bend as you go and flare it when you done, last time I did it was on a mud truck did them all by hand in under a hour for full truck, looked good, didn't pinch the line and worked well :)

Went to fAmily shop to get trucks rear end looked at. Thinking it was a bearing or something (could have did it myself but family mechanic and I work hard enough don't want to work on my own shit) . Turned out my ram needed a entirely new rear end. Quote went from 2-300 to 600 in labor ( for rear end, intake plenum gasket, dist cap n rotor) and 375 for the new rear end.

Tl;dr always be ready for the unexpected when taking your vehicle to the shop.

And always take it to someone familiar/who you trust

Did you remind the mechanic that he said it would cost "250" dollars? What did he say?

Running rear brake lines usually makes the job a lot more expensive, compared to just front lines.

That sounds fair price wise.
My ram needed a new intake plenum gasket as well. My dad did it. He said it was easy just a decent amount of work. It also needed a new ring n pinion, that i had done at the dealership and it was like 620$ for labor alone lol..

Ring and pinion isn't a backyard job anyway, unless you know how to set backlash, bearing preload etc than it'll just chew itself apart again.

You must have never done piece work..

I never tell anybody a flat rate, there are too many variables.

Don't tell me, tell OP's mechanic. If I'm not mistaken, after reading the first post, the mechanic quoted 250.

Either that or the OP isn't being completely honest with what he was told. I

Exactly
Which is why he only did the intake plenum gasket
It stopped eating 2 quarts of oil per tank of gas lol
