i'd say get the mazda sport, although its not a man-tran you're going to have a project that will (i'm guessing) be a manual, and from what ive heard the mazda 3's have the most bang (performance wise) for their buck on top of having a plethora of bolt-on upgrades readily available.

and it has the least amount of drive-time on it (41K kilos) which means its basically the newest one of the bunch.

If the Jetta is a two litre; affectionately called 2.slow, (and considering it's a Trendline+ I assume it is?) even if it's the only manual I wouldn't get it. That engine is infuriatingly slow. Like, it's one of the worst engines I've ever driven. VW hasn't changed it at all since the 1990s, you can put your foot fully to the floor and it still won't go. It's not bad once you get up to highway speeds but I'd never want to pull out into traffic in it. I've driven this particular engine quite a bit in loaner and rental cars and I hate it every time.

If it's a 2.5, that's an OK engine.

If it's a 2.5, I'd pick the Jetta in a very close race with the Mazda. The Jetta is probably the cheaper of those two as well. If it's a 2.0, I'd say the Mazda sounds like the best option.

People by Jettas for speed.. <<Blatant sarcasm

Me and the wife are torn between a 2014 Jetta SE or a 2009 Acura TL.. We're trading the CRV in..

I test drove the Jetta yesterday, wasn't a bad little car. Was very comfortable, but the interior was boring. Going up to Dover next weekend to Price to test drive the acura.

I was mainly referring to the him saying "vw hasn't changed since the 90s"

Just get a tdi and drive it forever lol

It's an acura, there's a reason why a 6 year old car with 70k miles is still 15k.. Cream puffs man, 280hp 3.5 v6, 25mpg city, luxury out of the ears.

Huh? Nothing in my post is wrong, and it's all specifically related to VWs two litre gas naturally aspirated engine, which has changed very little since the 1990s. The fact you mention the TDI in your next post probably tells me you didn't get what I was saying. And I'm not sure why, I was incredibly clear what I was referring to. And the biggest VW lover in the world hates the two litre. It's probably an engine hated by brand loyalists more than people who aren't because they know how weak the engine is in comparison to other engines in the lineup. It is by far the weakest part of VWs lineup, and it has long been retired from their most important market (Europe), but it held on in VWs entry level cars in North America.

Like seriously, the engine in the Jetta that the OP is talking about has been in VWs, more or less unchanged, since 1992. That's ridiculous.

Currently driving a 2012 3.8 GT Genesis coupe full bolt-ons. Problem is I want to buy a home so gonna need to sell my toy.

I'm doing business with a local dealer who's offering me 21k exchange value. I'm looking at 8-12k price range cars

Here's what he have :
#1 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LS 47k kilos
#2 2009 Dodge Journey SXT 46k kilos
#3 2011 Mazda Mazda3 GS SPORT 41k kilos
#4 2012 VW Jetta Trendline+ 81k kilos (Only manual which is a + for me)

OF Course, I'm gonna get a little project that gonna sit in my (futur) garage ahaha

Looking for tips, advices, experiences.

Thanks all for reading

the cruise was made in mexico thats reason enough to stay VERY far away from that car i would go with #3 or #4 i would choose the jetta any day of the week out of the choices tho
