Can't go wrong with an unmolested xj IMO

No wiser words have ever been said.

If OP is wanting a wrangler Jeep and not a Cherokee, I recommend 1995 and older....the older AMC model Jeeps, before Dodge ruined them.
You being in Michigan it should not be too hard to find a good xj. They were originally made in Toledo.

My xj = yummy for the tummy

Removed cat and zip tied up O2 sensor and now the check engine light is on and if need be I can prove that this is why its on

* If possible to have cat put back on and NO CEL - It's the way I'd go.... just imo. Good lookin Jeep tho' but may need more than you think.

Make sure to drive it on the freeway and go over 80 MPH, this will ensure the suspension isnt shot!

Also check the exterior body for un-matching sheen on the body, this shows it has been replaced and maybe ask the seller about it?

Obv feel out the trany/engine and look for oil leaks.

besides that I cant think of anything.. I just really recommend that you make sure the suspension is not shot.. Trust me its a pain in the ass to replace and will NEVER be fixed

If you think suspension on a XJ is a pain I hope you don't plan on working on an evo if you ever buy one.

3500 is a fair price for a relatively well used vehicle.. I could get 3500 for my jeep all day where I live, and I drive the fuck out of it.

I can tell the guy thinks it's worth more than he has it offered for. He's saying he's settling on 5500 lol. 16 year old vehicle with 200k miles is not worth more than 5500.

not with 200k, definitely not...

Depending on how cosmetically taken care of it was, i'd start at 3000, and not go over 4.
