my main thought is, would a higher-end sensor have faster relay times between the ECU and the sensor? You would think if the computer can read the changes in air flow faster you would get better throttle response?

The only thing a MAF does is adjusts the amount..

so the generic remanufactured is just as good as like a new hitachi, BWD brand new?

like there are not more responsive sensor types for instance?

do you have ANY idea what a mass airflow sensor does and how it operates? if you think new plug wires and a scam intake make your car "not stock" then im guessing you have no idea about a maf sensor. please just start taking your vehicle to jiffy lube for everything from now on and sell any tools you have to someone who has a clue

A cheap MAF can have a bad calibration compared to an OEM or equivalent. The MAF has virtually no effect on WOT operation though. It would be part and transitional throttle, possibly idle that you would notice it.

I said multiple times it is nothing major man, no need to be a flamer.

I appreciate that; I really think I just got a defective MAF sensor, there is literally a thread of solder hanging off of where they soldered the coil inside of the air pathway. Could just be a factory defect.

NP brother, I respect that you can apologize; I didn't take any offense, I was kind of being sarcastic with the flamer comment lol.

But still much respect bro. I'll be going to advance auto parts on Monday to take a look at another MAF sensor and see if they all have that excess solder or if it really is not supposed to be there. I know that the one I took out of my car did not have it but it was also defective, lol.

Instead of just throwing new parts at it, I'd suggest actually testing your MAF with a multimeter. You should be able to test resistance of the sensor from the ECU connector plug. Check between the pins for the air sensor and chassis ground. The factory service manual will have a range of resistance (ohms) you should be reading. If it doesn't match that range, you've got a bad sensor. If it passes, you crossed another possibility off the list.

That's proper diagnosis, not just tossing parts at the problem.

I replaced the MAF for $60 and it works a lot better, I know that was the problem I just think the one I have is defective because it is not as responsive as I think it should be and it has a big piece of solder hanging off of the internal sensor coil/spring.
