Hp should have nothing to do with the condition of your trans. The wear parts are worn by mileage or incorrect shifting. The non wear parts like gears should only see damage with huge power or really bad mis shifting. Why do they say they need to replace 2nd and 3rd gear? Did you keep driving it long after the synchros were shot? What wear parts are they putting back in it?
That clutch drives nice and Mcleod puts a really high hp rating on it. In practical use it really does not stand up to drag strip abuse. People smoke them with modest power. The RXT holds up a lot better but still fails well below Mcleod's rating. It seems like you still have time to return it and get a good one if they are waiting on trans parts.
il look into the rxt disc swap. EDIT: just got off the phone with mcloed and they adviser did say to go for the rxt, and tranny shop told its still in the box so il probably trade it quickly
the edge of second and 3rd gear are all rounded up, the tech showed me. i did drive the car afther the synchro was shot but i wasnt engaging the 3rd gear and second gear went in fine. Most wear parts are getting changed, im not fully accustomed to tranny language but this is wat he metioned, fork pads, synchros, slider gears and the 2d and 3rd gear.
