Any kind of older recreational or race toys have been ridden hard. Just look at it.

4 stokes get expensive real fast but generally last, 2 smoke is cheap and easy but every year or two st least Will need a rebuild.
look at wheels, suspension and frame. I'm like you I love the older stuff.

Yeah but you can normally get away with just replacing the piston and rings.

Yes, will probably change pistons and shits every year. i have the time and money to do so. and i love the simplicity of the 2-strokes.

I'm decided. I'll purchase one soon.

Will drain every fluid, replace everything, rejett it, buy brand new top ends.

Have you ridden a banshee before? Everyone I know that has them either loves them or hates them. I have a trx450r and would much rather have it than a banshee but that's just me. I guess it also depends what type of riding you do.

I have a Honda TRX700XX and these 4 strokes are 100x better than a Banshee on Trails/tight spots.

If youre going to the dunes then get one but they are a pain in the ass. My friends Banshee breaks literally every time he rides it. He bent his axle by doing little woops/jumps.

meh, i have the money to restore it completely and from there, i'll take good care of it

And no, im not expecting it to be as reliable as a 400ex, restoring it to my likings will be as fun as riding it :)
