Aftermarket CVT fluid is $12-$15 so you are definitely not getting ripped off at the dealer.
?...
$12-$15 a quart = $20 a quart?

yeah youre probably gonna want to use the oem cvt fluid. unless you just like playing russian roulette with your car. you should at least investigate what kind of fluid they are going to use and check to see if anything else is compatible instead of just believing that anything they tell you is going to be a lie.
http://www.amazon.com/Nissan-Factory-Continuously-Variable-Transmission/dp/B006OBXCX6/?tag=viglink21500-20you can look into what cvt fluid your parts stores have (assuming its a cvt) and see if they are compatible with your vehicle and then if they are cheaper. i have no experience with cvt transmissions or their fluid so i cant tell you what, if anything, would be another option that would be cheaper than nissans fluid.
Since my knee-jerk reaction to anything the dealership says is skepticism =p I looked around for opinions on CVT fluid. Found this forum:
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3353072/Alternatives_To_Nissan_CVT_FluLooks like I *could* use off-brand CVT fluid, but on the off-chance that the tranny grenades for any other reason, the dealership would likely point at the CVT fluid, and says that it voids the warranty.
Also found a place near me that sells the Nissan name-brand CVT fluid, for *less* than $20 / quart.
So, yeah. Point remains: I still inherently distrust dealership mechanics.
