I used to tell people 10% off with my business card.

Sounds like a good idea actually.

You need insurance if you have a business license..

If I were you, I'd work in a shop... There are way to many variables in owning your own shop, unless you specialize in 1 area of expertise...

A lead shop mechanic can make a lot of money, shop foreman get paid salary and commission based, as opposed to flat rate. I'd do what every other successful mechanic has done, get more than a few years and schooling under your belt, maybe 20 years of experience and THAN decide if owning a business is for you.. I did that shitty line of work for years, and it took me YEARS to figure out it wasn't for me. Don't make a mistake and jump into the industry, its a pretty crappy one imo.

I'm wanting to just focus on brakes and front end suspension really. There one guy here who gets alot of business doing wheel alignments/brakes/bearings etc. but as for the last few years he been real sick. I talked to him yesterday to see if he needed help but he said he cant cause he cant even take in all his customers cause of his health issues. Now not to sound like a dick I'm hoping maybe I could start something up now and get his business.

As for shop my dad owns some land a little bit out of town I'm going to try and get a small loan to maybe get a alignment machine as he has material to build a 20x40 shop. Only thing we need is concrete so I'm hoping we can get that set up soon.
